So what dud you do for Thanks giving
Presently I am spending some quality time wtth our Nanday conure.. who wants some time before going to sleep, poor thing he spent all day in his cage.

Anyhow I went over to my sister's, we had turkey and all them fixings with family and service members that came over for the adopt a sailor program.

We had a good time, and I am stuffed.

So hope you all had a good day too

1. Turkey & ham are still in the oven..
We're doing a LATE dinner today..

It's just me and my husband and we eat when I SAY we eat

I like turkey he hates it, so we always have ham too..

Our son & his roommates will get tons of turkey leftovers and there will be homemade ham & bean soup in a few days:)

Our son went to his finacee's family to-do. they have literally HUNDREDS of people in their family, and the holidays are always a big deal, so we insist that he spend those days with her.

We can celebrate anytime It's just 3 of us here.

2. The wife and I painted the front and back of our house.
We put up new siding and needed to get paint on before
the winter. Luckily, the weather cooperated.

Thankful it is done.

7. Fed about 200 Homeless Veterans
Gave them new boots and socks. Made sure they had a clean bed for the night. Not much just trying to help my brother veterans out.

9. I bathed my Dog
all 120, very hairy pounds of him. Boy does he smell good! It was nice and warm and sunny here in the Bay Area today - so he's already dry.

Neither hubby nor I are US born and neither like turkey much, so we don't do anything but enjoy a quiet day.

15. Wrestled with an Overly Large Bird for the most part.
Wife went out a bought a huge bird for just the two of us, so I plan on setting a new World's Record for the Most Turkey Leftovers Ever Created over the next month or so.

Made a couple of cakes and pies, cooked a bunch of veggies and stuff.

Then we sat down and stuffed our faces in an effort to see who's blood sugar tester would cry "Uncle" first.

Just your plain ordinary T-Day here.

16. We had friends over
Our annual "orphan's Thanksgiving" dinner. We always have friends over who can't get back to their families, who don't have families to go home to and/or people who don't want to spend the day with their families. I cook the turkey overnight so it is ready early in the day. Everyone brings something over and we just sit and talk for hours. This year one of our guests was another DU'er.

This evening, I took an electric blanket and some turkey to a homeless guy in the park. There's always been at least one homeless person who stays in a nearby park at night. This one stays near a shelter with a working electrical outlet and I had an old electric blanket that I wasn't using. It seemed like he could use it more than I could.

I take the dogs to the park for their evening walk. The dogs are my "guides" on this sort of thing. If they like the person I know I can talk to them. We've had a couple of homeless people in the park that the dogs were wary of and, so far, the dogs are pretty good judges of character. The ones the dogs didn't like ended up being ones that had volatile histories according to the other street people I've talked to. This particular guy has only been there for a few weeks and the dogs like him. The temperatures are going to drop this evening. So I did what I could for him.
