Dobson: Could take "4 or 5 years" to cure Haggard of being gay
Edited on Fri Nov-24-06 07:42 AM by SheWhoMustBeObeyed
and he just doesn't have that kinda time. Sorry man, no can do.

Dobson told Larry King about his regrettable lack of availability for helping save his brother in Christ. Hey, it's not just him. His board of directors just can't spare him. I've used that same excuse to get out of Tupperware parties, so I know it's true.

But surely Dobson has been there for his fallen friend? Called him, visited him, taken him a casserole? Erm, no. ThinkProgress has the clip:

http://thinkprogress.org/2006/11/23/dobson-haggard-cure-gay

Most pukeworthy moment: surprisingly, it wasn't Dobson describing the 4-5 year cure. It was King calling Dobson "Doctor."

Edit for typo

17. Probably not.
He has written some books, I think, so he'll still get some money from that, but he was fired from the church ministry, so no paycheck. He's probably selling stuff off already.

2. Well
Perhaps this will keep Mr. Dobson busy for the next few years and keep him from bothering the rest of the world, probably not, but one can hope.

6. I would like to serve on a panel that would
cure Dobson of being a bigot, but I just don't have the time.

It might take 40 or 50 years ...

10. It IS possible to cure "the gay"...
If by "cured" you mean "brainwashed into a numbing trance of self-denial and sexual frustration". Christian "ex-gays" are some fucked-up people.

8. Hysterical!
Dobson is so creepy. Everytime I see him the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, like the time I watched Hellraiser for the first time as a kid.

13. A poignant question
waiting to be answered by a yet-to-be-discovered Dead Sea Scroll, maybe another Book of Thomas wherein Thomas confesses to Jesus that he loves men, and Jesus tells Thomas it's no big whoop, don't worry about it.

11. And one trip to Muscle Beach on a summer day would change that in a New York minute.
Maybe Jesus wanted him to sell cars.

14. Only 2 to 3 years if he takes Pfizer's Heterox
Heterox may cause dizziness, constipation, drowsiness, and in some cases difficulty breathing.

Ask your doctor about Heterox.

18. Can I just point something out in this thread for lurking closetted freeps?

Ex-gays are a massive turn-off.

Don't expect to go through the gay, ex-gay, ex-ex-gay cycle and expect any kind of relationship, sweethearts. Speaking homosexually, it's about as good as having a 20 foot floodlit flag tied to your head saying "AVOID AT ALL COSTS: ISSUE LADEN WRECK BENEATH"

20. I think Dobson has aticipated that soon torture will no longer be tolerated in the US
Therefore, the traditional techniques will not be available to him.

Mr. Dobson, keep in mind Tasers are still legal.
:sarcasm:

21. What was most disturbing about that "interview" (I use the word
loosely) was the way Dobson's manner of speaking was so much like Bush's. They make the same vocalization while being asked a question they don't like. And they both answer in the same circuitous, nonsensical way. It made me think they are being coached by the same person, or that maybe Dobson is coaching Bush, or that maybe Dobson is speaking through Bush. All three are disturbing thoughts.

I hate it when CNN just adds credence to a far fringe lunatic.

27. Of course, King didn't challenge Dobson's assertion that
a person could be "cured" of homosexuality, or even whether such an attempt was good, or necessary. No questions about the rate of recidivism, or why Dobson seems so sure about the length of treatment, or what it entails, or anything. It's a short clip so maybe Larry grilled him in another segment. Buuuuuut I kinda doubt it.
