The Meritorious Service/Taser Award
Ever wonder why tazers are used so much now? There is an award for torture by tazer given out to law enforcement etc, by tazer makers...Kinda like the Emmy's , but it's for sadistic asshole authoritarians performances in hurting people. It is the glorification and honoring of torture and torturer.

The Meritorious Service/Taser Award was presented to Officers Joseph Eubank, Ethan Shear, Kevin Kay and Dan Jermansen for successfully subduing a patient without harm after he threatened staff at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital with metal scissors.

Yep the torturers get praised by the maker of tazers for causing pain, humiliation and submission of victims.
When will torturers be stopped?
When will bullies stop?

All it takes for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing.

I think the bullies may have to be forced to stop this, because obviously they feel no shame and therefore have no consience... And that end will begin when all bystanders finally , personally take the responsibility of protecting each other onto themselves instead of hesitating for another to lead,as a victim suffers in the hands of authorities or to their weapons or their systems of coercion.

When good people finally decide to stop avoiding their own discomfort feelings and turning away, when they see a violent or unfortunate event happen to another person and instead of running away or closing down or standing there, decide to help, get involved, fight for someone else, open their mouths, take the risk, to make the Evil STOP right now.

Do we all have to wait until the threat to the bystanders is equal to the threat the victim faces at the hands of some authoritarian asshole before the bystanders around the incidents decide to act on their own consciences instead of waiting for leaders to emerge from the rubbernecking crowd to approve the decision to act to help ? Bystanders choose to behave as if most people have no inner locus of control and act like sheep. WE all need to feel the Empathy and conscience for ourselves and each other, but that's not all.. We need to develop a relationship because we need to have solidarity with each other to stand against the authoritarians who would dominate abuse and crush..us all one by one. If we fail to relate to each other as human beings, we are most certainly crushed.
Warning graphic.(ptsd folks don't watch this if it triggers you.) I Wish bystanders could have intervened here.

No more by-standing so evil goes unchallenged until it triumphs. And that means no more by-standing for me, you... everyone of good heart..No more torture awards.

Show up at some law enforcement ceremony if you hear of one, bring as many people as you can, and BOO the Tazer awards.Or better yet cream pie the tazer awards Or DO whatever else it takes to STOP the glorification of TORTURE wherever it occurs. And get the shame and bystander interventions on video and stream it on-line.It will show people what good people doing something CAN do.. These bullies should have no place to honor torture, without facing SHAME for doing such insult to human beings..

1. I'm torn on this.....
It sounds like they are rewarding PROPER use of the taser. After all, that's what the taser is SUPPOSED to achieve - diffusing a potentially lethal situation with "less than deadly force." The results could have been MUCH worse.

In my opinion, situations like these are the ONLY proper use of the weapon.

Maybe a cop should ask him/herself if they would be proud to be publicly recognized for tasering a handcuffed suspect or a 12 year old unarmed child???? versus a patient with a pair of scissors.

The UCLA police department needs to be sued for allowing the taser to be used for "non-violent offender complience.".......in other words - "torture."

3. Any device to cause pain to make another submit
Is sadism.
A violet want is a shock device used in sadomasochism.
ttp://home.earthlink.net/~violetwanda/wands.html

This is where the tazer idea starts. In a sadistic mind that gets off on making others submit and hurt. The authoritarian personality is evil.

How did psych personnel subdue a person with scissors BEFORE Tazers?
They ganged up on him and pinned them down.

Before Tazer cop who wanted to subdue a person had to take a risk to do it.It COST the cop a risk to harass a person So you didn't often hear of cops coming up to people asking for ID's(papers) for the fuck of it back than. Cops didn't so eagerly create an altercation as an excuse to act out s/m scenes on citizens as much. Yeah before tazer police brutality still occurred but now..tazers make it so easy for the authoritarians that is.

Police did their jobs without tazers why do they NEED them now unless they just get off on it?And the "law found them an excuse to use their new toy and the Tazer makers have the money rolling in, all the thugs are happy but who suffers in this cozy torture game..the victims do.Too many people are too oriented to master slave mentality, they are taught it as children when parents are authoritarian...

5. I don't believe I agree with that...
...but I see plenty of reasons to oppose the use of tasers. It's nice to have a less-lethal option than gunfire that keeps law enforcement at a safe distance, but I fear too much reliance on the device. As you say, its purpose is to make another submit, and what's to stop a peace officer from using it for punishment?

There is a widespread belief that tasing simply subdues without harming. If police would use it as the next-to-last resort, in the knowledge that it can occasionally be deadly, I wouldn't have much problem with it. Seconds of pain and incapacitation, used only to subdue, wouldn't qualify as torture IMO, any more than would the judicious use of a nightstick.

It's when the Powers That Be start to think of it as push-button people control that I see big, big trouble.

6. You and I probably agree on more than we........
...........diagree when it comes to this subject. Police brutality and 4th amendment issues trip my trigger BIG TIME. I've probably had the bulk of my (very few) posts deleted when it comes to this subject. I've gotten in a couple big flame wars with a certain nurse that loves her some tasers......

The taser shouldn't be used as a compliance tool or on an out-sized/outnumbered unarmed person not acting violently.....i.e the UCLA student or a woman not exiting her car quick enough during a traffic stop(one of the big flame wars). ... but an unbalanced person with a lethal weapon? Sure......beats the hell out of shooting him. Cops don't get paid to be John Wayne or Chuck Norris and wrestle knives from peoples hands. It's fortunate that some Barney Fife type didn't kill him.
