Lawyers are ready to fight "War on Christmas"
:eyes:
Article in the metro. Phoenix newspaper this morning:

Michael Clancy
The Arizona Republic
Nov. 24, 2006 12:00 AM

As regularly as the Christmas decorations hit the stores, the drums start beating about the "war on Christmas."

"About this time every year, our phones start to ring off the hook from people reporting cases of discrimination," said Mike Johnson, a Louisiana attorney who works for the Scottsdale-based Alliance Defense Fund.

Every year for the past four, the fund has issued a news release before Thanksgiving to tout its free lawyer service and to point out what it contends is an organized plot to remove all religious meaning from the holiday.

"The plot against Christmas is a manufactured plot," said Bill Straus, Arizona director of the Anti-Defamation League, a group that defends the rights of Jewish people. "I have not heard of one complaint where somebody was berated for celebrating Christmas. If saying 'happy holidays' is offensive, then it is not us who has the thin skins."

1. Me, I'm gearing up for the Christians' war on Yule
Yule is a far more ancient observance than Christmas, and I'm getting sick and tired of me having to accomodate the micro-thin skin of Christians with regards to mid-winter.

KEEP THE SOL IN SOLSTICE!
JUST SAY NO TO CHRISTMAS!

2. Happy Holidays
Happy Holidays covers every one of the Holidays that fall during the Christmas Period. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Kwanza etc A person can say Merry Christmas if they want, I have never seen any place that discourges it. Where I live the cashiers at WALMART always said either Merry Christmas or some said Happy Holidays. I think it is just a personal form of greeting.

claiming Kwanzaa is a made-up holiday "imposed" onto the Christmas season, when that's exactly what the christians did: imposed christmas onto pagan holidays, otherwise nobody would recognize it.

"Going back to ancient times, the middle of winter has long been a time of various celebrations around the world. Centuries before the arrival of the man known as Jesus, early Europeans celebrated light and birth in the darkest days of winter. Many people rejoiced during the winter solstice when the worst of the winter was behind them and they could look forward to the start of longer days and extended hours of sunlight.

In Scandinavia the Norse celebrated Yule from December 21, the start of the winter solstice, through January. In recognition of the return of the sun, fathers and sons would bring home large logs which they would set on fire. The people would feast until the log burned out, and that could take as many as twelve days. The Norse believed that each spark from the fire represented a new pig or calf that would be born during the coming year.

The end of December was a perfect time for celebration in most areas of Europe. At that time of year, most cattle were slaughtered so that they did not have to be fed during the winter. For many, it was the only time of year when they had a supply of fresh meat. In addition, most wine and beer that had been made during the year was finally fermented and ready for drinking.

In Germany people honored the pagan god Oden during the mid-winter holiday. Germans were terrified of him for it was well-known that his nocturnal flights through the sky would help him decide which of his people would prosper or perish. Because of his presence, many people chose to say inside. "

6. Merry Chirstmas, From Hitler
Edited on Fri Nov-24-06 02:18 PM by IanDB1

Hitler celebrates Christmas with his soldiers, next to a decorated Christmas tree.

Hitler had thousands of Autobahn workers as his guests in the Berlin Sportpalast at Christmas 1938. Note the Christmas trees.

Copy of an annual Christmas card that Hitler sent to the front line troops, along with packets of coffee, each year.

And today...

Christmas sales of Adolf Hitler wine have reached a record high thanks to publicity generated by attempts to ban it in both Brussels and Berlin.

Do we really want to celebrate the same holiday that Hitler did?
