Ohio firm recalls turkey and ham
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An Ohio-based company is recalling 46,941 pounds of turkey and ham products that officials fear could cause listeriosis, a potentially fatal disease, the U.S.
Department of Agriculture said on Friday.

The meat, which was produced between September 5 and November 13, may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can bring about high fever, headaches, neck stiffness and nausea, USDA said.

8. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced it on Friday.
Methinks the USDA should have been ahead of the curve on something like this. Were they left out of loop, or was this just a Friday news dump?

9. Gov. workers had probably already left...
...on Wed., when the news broke. There are plenty of news articles in Google news from Wed. on this, however.

12. And the Reuters is dated today too
Well, thank goodness we didn't have a national holiday a few months ago where eating spinach was a big tradition.

2. Way to wait 'til after Thanksgiving to recall the turkey...
...jeez. I'm glad no illness has been reported.

By the way, did you see this in the bottom left-hand corner of the Yahoo page?

Why hasn't she been recalled yet? She went bad a long time ago! :puke:

3. honeybaked ham
Not just any random ham and turkey company. Good grief, I hope people are going to be okay. There are recalls from yesterday. I think there needs to be an investigation as to when they found this out. I had a bad experience with honeybaked a few years ago, shipping problems, so I don't buy from them anymore anyway.

4. This was reported in Ohio Weeks ago
Those of us in Northwest Ohio were told about this at least a week ago, and so far NO ONE has been reported ill from it. They caught it in time, & I think it was a good catch and a job well done by the company.

6. Then who kept it such a secret?
According to some searching on Google News, there weren't any media stories about this until the 22nd, so I'm skeptical about your timeline and about the glowing words you have for the company. Besides, this is only a tiny portion of the bad Karma that's due to Florida, Ohio, and Texas for the evil they've put on the rest of us.
