Moqtada al-Sadr threatens to provoke collaps of governent
As the death toll from yesterday's series of attacks in Sadr City mounted to over 200 and hospitals are collapsing, a huge bomb attack was carried out today in Tal Afar, 420 km north of the capital, killing at least 22.

Meanwhile Moqtada al-Sadr announced the Mahdi Army followers would suspend their membership in parliament and the government if prime minister Nouri al-Maliki heeds the call of the US administration to hold a meeting with US President and Secretary of State in Amman next Wednesday and Thursday, to talk about how to regain control of the Iraqi security situation.

In the eventuality of a withdrawal of Moqtada al-Sadr 30 parliamentarians and six cabinet members, al-Maliki's government would lose its backbone and most likely collapse. Member of parliament Qusai Abdul-Wahab from Moqtada al-Sadr's bloc released a heated statement in which he claimed that US forces were responsible for yesterday's series of bomb assaults in Sadr City.

4. Sadr wouldn't make a threat like this if he wasn't looking to do it anyway
And he has plenty of reasons for that, even though it'll essentially mean open season on his head. But, Sadr's type of game doesn't necessarily include living. He's going to make the price of taking him out very high. If he wins through death what he couldn't through life, so be it. Scary people we're dealing with over there.
