Another "I Just watched "The Corporation"" thread, and...

there are some amazing viewpoints very well presented. While I find the film to wander at times, it is 2+ hours of time that everyone should invest in. Strongly recommended! 8.5 out of 10 on the BD12 scale.

Watching the second CD of interviews now.

3. when you examine the evidence, corporations are the undergirding force . . .
behind most of the critical issues facing us today -- war, environmental devastation, loss of jobs, human rights, etc. . . and nothing will really change until we change corporations and what we allow them to do . . .

corporations are legal "persons" that have immensely more power, money and influence than flesh and blood humans, both individually and collectively . . . they must be strictly regulated and limited in what they are allowed to do (e.g. buying other corporations or exceeding what should be narrowly drawn charters) . . . and they must pay for their "environmental footprints," i.e. their impact on the earth, water, and air . . .

the goal should be a zero environmental footprint by a date certain (sooner, not later), and any continuing environmental impact a corporation exhibits after that date must be heavily taxed . . . and their status as legal persons must be revoked . . . "We, the People" must re-assert citizen control and authority over these entities -- which were created to serve humankind, not dominate us . . .

I have nothing to do with this website; I just support their work . . .
