Just watched "An Inconvienent Truth"....
The first order of the House is to investigate this whole administration and find out WHY THE FUCK THESE SOCKCUCKERS OCCUPY THE WHITE HOUSE. The second order of business IS TO IMPEACH THIS WHOLE FUCKING, FILTHY CREW AND REMOVE THEM. The third order of business is TO IMPRISON THESE MOTHERFUCKERS IN THE WORST FUCKING HELLHOLE OF A PRISON AVAILABLE. The fourth order of business when these yellow cowards run to Paraguay, Saudi Arabia or other "safe havens" IS TO PURSUE THEM TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH WITH ALL MEANS AVAILABLE AND BRING THEM BACK TO JUSTICE.

I'm so fucking angry I could chew nails.

1. Wow. I usually avoid documentaries
But I think I might check this one out, after reading your post.

3. Hey! documentaries are fascinating
I've seen more than I can remember that educated and entertained me, or just caused me to express some emotion. I couldn't live without documentaries.

ps - An Inconvenient Truth is astounding.

find the "worst f***ing hellhole of a prison" the "filthy crew" that we should then pursue to "the ends of the earth".

I had an emotional response to "An Incovenient Truth", which I could detail here, however, I'm really interested in what sparked this rant on your part.

5. It's difficult to isolate one particular part of the film, but....
...the willful ignorance and obfuscation of the absolute facts of global warming; the false debate on whether warming is happening as proffered by this administration; the absolute fealty to the energy interests of this country, as the administration carries the water for these rapacious corporations is a good start. Ultimately, however, the reason why it provoked such a reaction is because these actions and inactions have caused so many to lose their lives and be deprived of the basics of life.

If these are not high crimes and misdemeanors I don't know what is.

6. I've seen it twice and the
part about how they willfully decided to make global warming a 'theory' got to me too. It is in no way something that can or should be made into something political, there is no right or wrong side in the debate, it isn't a debate. Facts and they want to make it something that there is some kind of scientific disagreement about. Greed that plays with our lives, our existence, they are nothing but mass murderers on a global scale.

7. Thanks for such a great response. I've been ill since the U.S. government refused to sign
Kyoto treaty. That was a narrow focus and you've expanded my view.

Thank you! MKJ

9. Didn't you just "love" the graphic of the scale - with the earth on
one side and GOLD BARS on the other? I think Gore said he saw it at a conference at the White House when he was a Senator -- during the reign of Reagan or Bush I...

GOLD BARS or THE ENTIRE EARTH? Which should we choose?

Mmmmmmmm - those gold bars sure do look good!

12. "mmm -- I wish I had some of those!" Beautiful!
One of the funniest, most sarcastic comments I've come across, on this issue. (I've been studying global warming for the better part of 2 decades -- and it felt so good, to finally be able to laugh so hard.) In his original book, Gore says he got the title -- "Earth in the Balance" from that platitude by Bush Sr.'s administration. In the original illustration, there's a white-coated scientist solemnly weighing up the bars. (There are only about 6 of them too ... IndyOp, you're being far too generous!) Considering that's supposedly the job of me and my colleagues ... everybody I know who's studying "ecological valuation" thinks that picture is appallingly simplistic (even the ones who are on the economics/industry side), and shows how ignorant the Bushies are.

16. LoL! I wish the actual graphic that Gore showed was available -
I was so impressed by it that I felt I needed to reconstruct it. :-)

It shows not just ignorance - it shows a dramatically disturbed sensibility. Money vs. Life? That is sick.

I laughed a lot during the movie and felt really hopeful at the end. Thanks for the work you do!

17. there's a black and white version of it in Earth in the Balance ...
Apparently it's only one frame of a much larger piece of art (or perhaps "piece of work" might be more accurate?), a self-congratulatory depiction of what Bush Sr.'s administration was supposedly doing to protect the environment, prior to the Earth Summit in 1992. I would love to examine the entire picture in all its glory (and indeed Al does show it briefly, in full color, during the movie). I bet we could uncover more howlers!

I am suddenly reminded of that bit by Jack Benny -- he's accosted by a robber who exclaims "Your money or your life!", and Benny stands there for a long pause ... "I'm thinking about it!"

10. I have not seen this film but definitely plan on it
the other inconvenient truth of the Iraq war is the unbelievable amounts of toxic fumes spewing in the air. Everytime there is a story on Iraq there is nothing but thick black smoke in the background. The oil fields burning, there is so much pollution going on its a travesty on top of all those lives being lost. wtf!!

11. Spread the word and give ICT as gifts this year
My mother and a few adult nephews, a couple of friends etc. are all getting this DVD as gifts. These are folks who will never go see the movie unless it's pressed into their hands. I couldn't drag them to the theatre when it came out so I'm going to make sure it gets into their house this way.

Then I will make sure I follow up with conversations to ascertain whether they watched it, prodding until they finally see it. It's impossible to remain unmoved by the film so it'll be pretty easy to figure out if they try to fudge whether they watched it or not.

I wept the first time through Aviation Pro. Now I'm angry too. How anyone will be able to face their grandchildren 30-40 years from now and say they didn't watch An Inconvenient Truth, or that they stood by and continued consuming their way to hell on earth, or worse yet, believed the Bu$h spin.....

;(
