Richards to Appear on Civil Rights Show

Michael Richards will appear on the Rev. Jesse Jackson's nationally syndicated radio program to discuss his racist rant at a Los Angeles comedy club, the civil rights leader said Saturday.

Richards' participation in the "Keep Hope Alive" program is a chance to reach out and apologize to the black community, Jackson said.

"He is embarrassed," said Jackson, who spoke to Richards by telephone this week after being contacted by the actor's publicist. "I think he wants to recover from the pain he now feels and the pain he's caused others."

While he called Richards' words "hateful," "sick," and "deep-seated," Jackson said his inclusion in the radio show airing Sunday would be a chance for a broader discussion about black actors, writers and directors' "cultural isolation" in the entertainment industry.

Nobody believes your B.S. attempts to "prove" you're not racist. Your words, spoken with such hatred, said all anybody needs to know.

Go into drug rehab where you belong, and then just stay the hell out of the public eye. Join the KKK...nobody will know who's under the sheet, so you'll be able to express your true feelings without fear of censure.

we might not be racist, but we think like racists.....that's because our society teaches, nurtures, promotes and demands racism, mostly from from its most powerful demographic (and kramer is a member of that!)...i understand your rage at michael richards, but...what about the newsmedia during katrina? what about bill bennett saying 'crime ends if we kill all black babies' (paraphrase)? or bill schneider's claim that black voters elected bill clinton (as if that was a bad thing, in light of history!)....kramer is a comedian, and he was 'dying' cuz his aud wasn't buying his shtick- he got mad and struck out at them. have you ever got mad and, say, annhialated your enemies using your super abilities etc? kramer had one tool at his disposal, his big fukkin mouth, and he used it to spew racist nonsense at his aud (who really weren't laffing then!)
i notice the rightwingnut racist media has been saying richards is like oj simpson, who the 'liberal' media don't demand an apology from (as if murdering your old lady etc is just oj's racism!

...and maybe some folks will learn something from this. I'm not ready to forgive him or stop calling him a racist, but if he admits he's a racist and helps to get a discussion on racism in America started, this whole incident could have an ever so slight silver lining - we'll see...
