12. Cheney's apparently already returning from Saudi Arabia
The spin is that everything was set up perfectly in the preceding two months and they see 100% eye to eye.

Truth? Lies? Who knows. Who cares, even.

3. It's next week, and the meeting is in Jordan. Baghdad is too unsafe.
And Muqtada Al Sadr has said that he will pull his party out of the Iraqi government if Maliki meets with bush. This should be interesting...

4. Wednesday and Thursday in Jordan
Al-Maliki is facing opposition from both sides as he works to halt his nation's slide into an all-out civil war, but the White House said Saturday that despite threats from Shiite and Sunni Arab leaders, he is not expected to cancel his trip to Amman, Jordan, to meet Bush on Wednesday and Thursday.

7. The desperation one, two is as follows: Cheney goes to the Saud (done)
Edited on Sat Nov-25-06 10:37 PM by pinto
and Bush goes to Jordan on Wednesday (iirc) to tell the Iraqi PM what Cheney tells Bush after the Saudi visit. (As well as Baker's Iraq Study Group decision.)

Bush will be the official messenger, imo, nothing more.

9. Bush and Condi
In what is shaping up to be a crisis summit, President George W. Bush will meet Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in Jordan on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss the security situation in Iraq.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be with Bush for the Maliki meeting, and go on to attend an annual Middle East democracy conference at the Dead Sea where key Arab players may meet in the sidelines to discuss Arab-Israeli issues.
