I'm out for a while.
I'm not sure how long. DU has become kind of an addiction for me. I appreciate everything I've learned but I'm spending too much time here--mostly fighting, lately.

That being said, I think DU is exactly where it ought to be. True patriots are fighting authoritarians over all their hare-brained schemes to force conformity to their ideals. Hey, anytime you need backup against these clods, PM me and I'll be there. I know we are the real majority and there are really just a few noisy advocates of stupidity.

I hope this struggle spills up into the Party itself and that the next generation of Democratic leaders takes a real stand for the rights and LIBERTY of Americans.

I'm off to take my fight to the real world. To those of you who are pleased with my absence, let me assure you: I will be doing more damage to your sacred cows out there than I could ever do in here.

Peace, and good night/morning. This f*cking insomnia is a major reason why I gotta go!

3. I Understand Completely
and wish this nightmare would just end so that we could get on with our lives. Hard to believe that they have taken 6 years of my life. And yet, I also realize that I will never be able to take my country for granted as I once did. My hope is that one day, I will be able to balance both life and country.

5. Hurts my mouse arm, robs me of sleep
makes me angry at people I'll never know.

Believe me I've been multi-tasking, but this is one task I need to put down for a while.

13. Jed gets a little passionate.
Edited on Sun Nov-26-06 10:16 AM by acmejack
He forgets we're all friends here. I have a thick skin, but I wish he would chill his rhetoric and that was the point I was trying to make. I haven't called him anything worse than "selfish" but it is a matter of record that he has referred to me and others as all of what I posted and as "sadists" and much worse. He seems to think it is a matter of personal gratification on my part to see national service implemented to "punish" youth...

I just wish he would not get so personal, but I suppose we all argue our points in our own style and as I said it is apparent he believes very deeply in what he says. It is equally obvious that his mind will not be changed by anything anyone says to him to the contrary. So in the interest of civil discourse I should probably avoid antagonizing him further and stop responding to him.

8. I understand Jed
Take some time to chill out and smell the roses.
Believe it or not I have been at this for over 10 years now starting in the Clinton admin, with Monica.
And there were time that I just had to let it go for a while to regain my energy and my senses.
But don't say good by because that is forever, say until we meat again. Because I don't think anyone is mad at you here, I think we love our own no matter what there opinion is on any one subject.

9. Yes... Now, is the time to do. We have about 2 yrs to get it done.
No reason to sit in here and fight. I'm on for long times at my dull job, but while not here, I am doing.

10. I spend a lot of time reading on DU but not too much posting.
Just as in life, if something angers you, take a deep breath and wait it out so you do not say or do something you can not take back. If I read something that pisses me off, I try to remember that we are all in this together and I do not post an insult. I know that DU is awesome and it's members are there when you need help to learn. I am here to learn. After you get some sleep try just reading on DU and do not post any responses for awhile even though that can be hard. I hope you feel better soon.

to temper it with "doing" in between. Sometimes a person just needs a break. I've taken a hiatus myself as I literally got sick. But still managed to eek out a few minutes here most every day. You must do what is best for you. :godspeed: :toast: and best of luck in your endeavors.

14. time out is a good thing- personally I have
to do the same thing myself on a regular basis- and I don't post that often.

A few friendly thoughts, shared from experience and much introspection.-

This is the 'real world' Jed- In many ways. Yeah, there are people who play on line, but for the most part, especially in places like DU, the people I've met and come to learn from and respect, are more real than many people I interact with in the flesh-

Don't worry too much about others being glad you aren't here- AND don't let heated discussions and disagreements trick you into thinking you don't belong here, or that your time and voice is a waste- I usually learn more from interactions that are volatile, but productive- we all have things we're very passionate about, and if we can voice our stand, in a clear direct manner, we give each other a reason to pause, or at least 're-assess' our own positions.

Sometimes DU, and the intense "in your face"- "there is no denying the real state of affairs"- harsh reality can be overwhelming.

When I come here, and all the media, hype, the frivolous puff pieces, the celebrity weddings/break-ups, the 'mega sales', the local issues that are blown into 24hr 'docu- dramas', are put into perspective.

It is far too easy for most people in the US to forget what is happening in Iraq, and Afghanistan because of us, to us, and 'in our name'. There is something very wrong with this- Out of sight, out of mind- Where is the outrage? "taking the fight to them, so that we don't have to have it here" is not my idea of what America should be all about- It is far to easy to spend lives without thinking- to do things that should never be done when it is only being done to 'others'-

It's also easy to not see the suffering going on all over the world, as we hear the holiday 'wallet washing' propaganda. Spend, consume, have it all- Don't think about anything but yourself- 'gotta have'- 'gotta do'- 'gotta be'- superficial shit-.

Peace to you- take a break, take your voice to other mediums, but please come back- and don't ever let anyone silence you-

blu

15. "authoritarians"?? Like the anti-tobacco Nazis?
Edited on Sun Nov-26-06 11:43 AM by TahitiNut

Well, I've considered taking some time off as well ... for much the same reasons. Funny how that works.

It's too bad that the folks we've (almost all) left out to dry in Iraq and Afghanistan can't take a "time out" and count on the rest of America to share the load - UNTIL WE GET OUR ASSES OUT OF THERE.
