1. The M$M and GOP must be really scared of her
they are spending so much time trying to tear her down before she's even in charge.

Could it be they know that Bush & Cheney will likely be forced to resign once the investigations start and the indictments come rolling in? She will be next in line to be President, if both are removed from office at the same time after all.

7. they certainly don't want someone who is too outspoken
she dared to do something like question the war and has made it a priority on bringing the soldiers home.

after everything the CHimpanzee has done with the lying and all the death and destruction from 9/11, to Iraq to Katrina. they make Pelosi into something like this ?

of course these are the assholes who decide who they want to be damaged goods . stupid fuckers will never call out the administration on their wrongdoings.

17. Been more than a year for me.
I tune in from time to time and I am really shocked how transparent the corporate media has become.

It's a big problem for those of us trying to get democracy here in America.

4. Predictable anti-female slur
But then, everyone was so gleeful that the donald called Condi a bitch. The slurs against women AS women seem not to be off limits in politics.

18. Yes, pretty obvious, isn't it.
'Damaged goods'...meaning a woman who has been raped, or who is no longer a virgin.

33. Precisely.
This is why we should do our best to avoid making these same kinds of anti-female comments on DU.

26. Anti Dem slur; overtly partisan,
since they never said anything like that about Bush or the anyone in the Republican party in spite of all the scandals about corruption and pedophilia.

34. "Damaged goods" is an old colloquial term for a women who has been raped
or is sexually experienced before marriage.

I know I harp on this, but you need to look at the language news outlets use.

8. Pelosi was just...
caught between a rock and a hard place. Both people--Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD)and John P. Murtha (D-PA)would make great choices, but the party chose someone who helped them get there to begin with, so Pelosi is not really damaged. Two great people...just two hard choices to make.

39. My thoughts exactly
Lott won by one single vote...it appears there is a rift in the GOP party, right down the middle. No media exposure about that little tidbit. I wonder why :freak:

13. This is getting ridiculous. Pelosi hasn't even been sworn in yet for crying out loud.
This angers me but doesn't surprise me because I read an article posted here in the last week or so quoting Tom Delay (of all people) who said they were going to attack Pelosi and undermine her as Speaker. They don't care what's best for the country, they are just going to attack anything and everything from the other side. For them its all about preserving power and if its at the expense of the country so be it.

This kind of behavior is a disgrace in itself, but its an outrage that the media willingly participates in this. The media as it exists today should hang its collective head in shame. They consistently refuse to objectively report real news while pulling a juvenile stunt like this.

38. Not surprised: their multi-billionaire owners made a killing...
(pun intended) since BushCo succeeded their coup back in 2000 (they stole more money out of the Treasury than they made from their corporate media merger$) and they have no intention to ever let that easy robbery of theirs slip away anytime soon.

A TRUE democratic (fair) MSM would rather investigate and publicize these ugly facts:

BFEE

The illegal we do immediately. The unconstitutional takes a little longer.
-Henry A. Kissinger

Don't count on it. They hold the money (including most of the taxpayer's) so they don't care (unless their obvious propaganda is to be made illegal, and even then...). :grr:

15. If anyone is damaged goods, it's Bush.
He was forced to fire the Secretary of Defense because the Secretary was incompetent. Bush's approval ratings fell from some of the highest in history following 9/11 to some of the lowest before the 2006 election.

Pelosi's star is rising. Bush's is falling. What kind of nonsense is CNN spewing?

20. And yet they have the nerve to keep looking for a pony in Iraq
Yeah, a Democrat's "damaged" before she's even in office; but the jury's still out on whether Iraq can be salvaged or not, and you can't call it a civil war (after all, where's Robert E. Lee?), and if we all just wait one more Friedman Unit (six months), then we'll see it all come together under Dear Leader's master plan. But Pelosi? A failure before she even begins, according to CNN.

24. George and Dick get a six year honeymoon and they don't even
allow her to get engaged or plan the wedding.

Someone I know who I really thought was 'getting it' - meaning what is happening to us - just told me he thought FOX was partisan-right wing and CNN was liberal. There is a long way to go yet. I'm feeling down about that person's understanding. I think I assumed. I had to give an extra lesson.

I think we've already seen our future - the right wing networks provided by Murdoch Time Warner GE Microsoft Disney Viacom and all the other corporations in their owndership families are going to try to character assassinate every Dem member of the Senate and Congress.
