Is anyone planning to attend this media conference?
Edited on Sun Nov-26-06 12:30 PM by kevinbgoode
I keep receiving a lot of information about this conference from Jan.12-14 in Memphis - and it is being put on by freepress.net but has an amazing lineup of speakers and events so far. Is anyone around here planning on attending? It would be nice to end up running into some DUers . . .

Oops...here is a list of programs so far:

And the list of speakers is amazing. . .from Jane Fonda to Bill Moyers to Helen Thomas! ! !

1. I went to part of the NCMR conference
when it was here in Madison, and it was SO GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would LOVE to go again! Even if you don't find anyone to go with, attend as much of it as you possibly can! (I'm so jealous!)

3. Well, I'm only a 4-5 hour train ride to Memphis from here. . .
and this is the last year I can register at student rates...which are way cheap at $75. . .though lower income activists can register for that amount as well. And hotels in downtown Memphis aren't too pricey, generally - you can always use priceline.com to reserve an inexpensive room. I thought I would go because there are so many amazing programs - and if I stayed downtown, I would likely not need my car at all.

5. I went last year, it was great and there were DU meetups
It was a great conference. I met a lot of great people and the programs were pretty good. I did get turned off a couple of times when some break-out sessions were limited to those under 30 but overall it was a great conference.

There was a message board in one of the main areas that had a notice about DU meetups every evening. Unfortunately, I didn't check the message board until the last day of the conference and missed out.

Go, if you can get there, go.
