1. The first time I saw Michael Richards on "Fridays" was in early 1981. In that skit...
In that skit, he played a guy interviewing Caspar Weinberger and asking him if he thought it was wise to have a Jew as secretary of defense. It was funny for the nonsense and inappropriateness of it all (the character playing Weinberger points out that he's actually an Espicopalian, but the Richards character doesn't believe him). Yet now I'm wondering if Richards had a hand in writing that skit that runs along such a racist tangent. I mean, what kind of creative impulse drives a comedy writer to conconct a skit in which an interviewer grills a new appointee about whether he's a Jew? Truly a weird mind at work, whether Richards's or somebody else's?
