If you aren't reading Sic Semper Tyrannis, you are really missing out.
I know that several DUers (including me) have made passing references to this site in various comments in various threads.

However, I'm dedicating this thread solely to urging all DUers who want to truly deepen their understanding of what's happening in Iraq and in the Middle East in general, to add this site to their daily information diet.

I don't want to go on and on about why Pat Lang's SST blog is an outstanding source of information and analysis, I just want you to click on the link and start reading. You won't be sorry -- in fact, you'll be amazed at the quality of the intelligent discussions that take place there.

Please don't take my word for it, just click on the link and start reading:

3. Well, just start with the current post by Pat Lang. Then click on the comments.
He moderates all the comments, so nothing goes up that he hasn't approved of. Lang is a former U.S. military officer, Vietnam veteran and intelligence insider. The regular commenters there are a fascinating mix of ex-military, academics, and visitors from other countries.

Just take some time and read. It's nothing like Kos, it's a very small but extremely erudite community. I'll be happy to give more specific answers if you have further questions.

Thanks so much for responding,
sw

4. It's become one of my favorites -- and one of my daily must-reads.
I found it via a link in a comment at Juan Cole's site, back at the beginning of the Israeli attack on Lebanon (Juan Cole is ALSO a daily must-read), and I've been hooked ever since.

Pat Lang just impresses the heck out of me -- even when I don't agree with him. He's a genuine patriot, an honest and honorable man. And there's some really high-quality commentary on his site. VERY educational!

5. Looks like a good one, scarletwoman.
I know I must have seen Pat Lang on tv somewhere; the name is familiar.

I've bookmarked the site. :hi:

Anyway, I'm glad you'll take a look. Thanks very much for posting!

7. Bookmarked.
Thanks. It's a great web site! Basically, a bunch of ex-military guys who are not buying into the BS that is going on and are looking at things realistically. The cool thing is, they really know what is going on because they have served.

8. It's fascinating reading, imho. I know nothing about military matters, it's really been educational.
Plus, I really appreciate reading all the different viewpoints being offered by the commenters. It's very intellectually satisfying, methinks.

Thank you for posting!
