Is Putin Really A Friend In The "War On Terror?"
Click here to read the whole story.

<snip>

President Bush has called Russia "a strong ally in ... fighting the war on terror," and "a strong and viable partner with the United States."

It's great spin, especially when accompanied by warm handshakes like the one in the photo at right. But there's no reason to believe the relationship between Bush and Putin has translated into any kind of partnership on Iraq or Iran.

3. Didn't W look into Putin's soul?
Can't get a much better reference than that I'd say. So Putin is a friend. Next question?

7. to be fair
that was in 2002, when russia hadn't yet given away our troop movements to IRAQ.

but you know, stay the course, stay the course. no need to change our opinion of russia, even after everything.

4. Well, since the "War On Terror" is a huge con, and Putin is part of the crime syndicate working
this con, then Putin is a partner. Friendship has nothing to do with it. It's strictly a mutually beneficial business arrangement.

5. Probably to somebody, but not to the US
He has a lot of ties to Iran through oil deals and other treaties, he has already looked * in the eye and saw he was a complete idiot, and decided he was going to play this fool for all he could get out of it.

11. all the more reason
for bush to actually stand up for the u.s., rather than just spin that everything is rosy between the countries.

i mean, if the pentagon report saying russia gave iraq tips on u.s. troop movements didn't set off alarm bells in the oval office, what will?
