Delta Center Renamed "EnergySolutions Arena" (a Nuclear Waste Dump Company!)
I know this could be considered a Sports topic or a Business topic, but to me this is a WTF are they thinking!!! topic.

This is such a ridiculous news item, which seems to have slipped by here un-noticed, I though some here might be interested in this:

Delta Center Renamed EnergySolutions Arena

By KTVX

It's been known as the Delta Center for 15 years, now it will have a new name.

Jazz owner Larry H. Miller announced EnergySolutions Arena will drape the downtown arena.

EnergySolutions is a nuclear waste company with nuclear waste dumps all over the world including one in Utah's west desert, 60 miles from Salt Lake City. Miller says initially he was not enthused about the idea of having the controversial company involved with the Jazz, but he says he has educated himself on the issue and believes that Energy Solutions and the storage of nuclear waste is safe.

EnergySolutions is formerly known as Envirocare, the company has a controversial past, and 18 months ago the new owner of the company, Steve Creamer, changed the name and has been spending million of dollars to change the company's image....

3. Have any "Envirocare" type companies tried something like this in NV yet?
I bet you have a few stories from Nevada almost as good this NVMojo, anything come to mind?

Have I ever mentioned that I was lucky enough, as a small child, to live less than a mile from one of 3 future EPA Super Fund sites in my hometown? And I was lucky enough to play in what I thought was a small creek, but which turned out to drainage ditch for that future Super Fund site.

Oh well, at least I NOW know why all our Cats died so young with multiple tumors and why I had so much trouble in School (in other words, I'm with you on the Protect the Environment issues.)

2. Larry Miller will do anything for a buck
I started a poll in the Salt Lake Tribune Forum last week looking for local reaction to the name change. Most participants (85%) don't like the change. Larry Miller knows how to make money and the Mormon Church is the biggest recipient of his philanthropy next to his own egocentric business adventures.
