I can't believe how some people see the world! Sorry to smut up the DU board with this, but I thought this was the most ridiculous post I have read in a long time. I've seen the commercials in question, and never once crossed my mind to even consider the sexual preference of anyone in them. Only a homophobic freeper would.

Have any of you seen the new Holiday Lexus commercial's? (VANITY)

I have seen the ads yesterday and now today! One is two gay men and the other is two lesbian women. This is a car ad folks and it is nothing more than a car for for gays and lesbians! I'm totally disgusted and goin to tell Lexus I will not ever buy any of their products!
Disgusting!

1. That is EXACTLY my response when I see a straight couple in a car ad
Icky, ICKY, ICKY!

I mean, why in the world would I want to drive a car for straight people?

2. Geez. What was the car, pink or something?
That is classic homophobia: fear and paranoia of gays.

5. "Gay window advertising" is the technical term for it.
Edited on Mon Nov-27-06 01:28 PM by rocknation
But I don't think it applies here.

I thought they were pairs of neighbors each hoping that the car is a gift from their respective spouses. I thought it was kind of weird, but I don't see how their being gay would play into it. The commercials Lexus did last year were better.

11. Is THAT the ad being mentioned?
Crimeny, it was pretty obvious that the two men lived in different houses, were not a couple and were posturing over who would end up with the car. Only an obsessive "methinks the laddie doth protest too much" Freeper would have thought it was a gay ad.

12. that's the one in question. I saw the NEIGHBORS talking to each
other about which one is getting the new car, but can't find anything that says "gay" to me.

16. weird...MrsCoffee heard the ad (her back was to the TV)...
and her first comment was "Lesbians?"

she's definately not a homophobe or anything like that, i promise. but she didn't SEE the ad, just HEARD it. i was watching, and immedately knew they were neighbors jonesing over someone's christmas present. Which is sort of breaking the thou shall not covet thy neighbor's Lexus commandment, but whatever.

that's kinda interesting to me.

7. Freepers are such victims, eh?
One of the replies on this thread asks defiantly crosses out "Holiday" and uses "Christmas Season." Such poty victims, oppressed by the very existence of gays and non-Christians. Oh, the glorious days of Jim Crow!

10. Silly Freakers
Here they thought that all you needed to get rich was a $300 tax-cut and a Wally World job. Now they find out that to get rich enough to own a Lexus, you have to be gay.

Does the lesbian car have lilac scented carpets?

Does the gay car have a stick-shift in the shape of a Clenis?

My God! What truly inconsequential lives the Freakers must lead.

13. Good point raised: of course gay people don't NEED cars
So why show a car ad with gay people in it?
It's just some Madison Ave. outfit trying once again to ram homosexuality down America's throat.

Any moran KNOWS that gay men don't actually need to buy cars--we have our fairy wings to get us around. And lesbians ride their broomsticks.

15. Hehe... exactly.
I'm sure Lexus execs are fretting over how many Lexus sales they'll lose to the cretins of FreeRepublic. Maybe one - RimJob rewarding himself for fleecing the flock again.

"I'm not buying a Lexius, and it's not because I don't make enough money at the Du-Drop-Inn washing dishes, so stop saying that! I won't buy a Lexius 'cause it's a queer car that's not even made in 'Murica, like Toyoto"
