True Story from our street corner: Shared sacrifice?
Our group was in our usual place yesterday, near a very fashionable shopping district, which was all tricked out with lights and music. Lots of shoppers and people coming and going enjoying the restaurants and theaters.

I was holding my usual sign (Jesus is still here and WE are still killing him). Mostly I just wave at honkers and yell "thank you" for their support, but yesterday I was also saying, now and then, to pedestrians "30,000 to 40,000 crippled Veterans are coming home". I happened to say this to one middle-class family and a teen-age boy said, "Yeah lots of people are getting hurt, so what. Get over it."

I managed to say something about gratitude, but it was inadequate. Today, I'm depressed.

1. Draft the little sweetie.
To him, fighting is for the little insignificant people, not wondrous creatures such as he.

3. Don't worry, he'll get kicked in the teeth soon enough
and you don't have to enslave all the other kids in this country to do it.

7. He's most likely to have a parent screaming "You're not taking MY baby!!"
That, and a $2 "Support The Troops" ribbon on their car. :eyes:

5. You are welcome. My friends and I feel that we have something
to contribute, for whatever it's worth. It's not just for us, but for everyone, who for various reasons can't be there to hold a sign.

8. You are contributing enormously
If every person in this country felt the way you do AND acted like they did, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in, in every single area x(

4. wow...
about the only things that successfully "trickle down" these days are violence, desperation, isolation, hopelessness and selfishness.

Mission accomplished bushco.

6. I'll give this kid a free pass THIS time for cultural desensitization
of human suffering. You did him a favor by making him confront the issue and respond. Who knows, maybe the next time he's confronted, his response will be alterred and for the better.

Don't be depressed as you started the prospect of change, and change is good.
