The "S" word.. (are we channeling Ari Fleischer)
Edited on Mon Nov-27-06 03:56 PM by SoCalDem
Everyone, even Maxine Waters is now advocating giving the "N" word MORE power. (IMHO)

Watching TV today reminded me of my three sons when they were little..

I have been known to use, and still do use the word "SHIT!"

It's such a descriptive word..a wonderful word

When my boys were young, I desperately tried to curb the usage of said word, and usually prevailed, but of course any parent knows that sometimes that does not work..

Anyway.. one day my youngest ran into the kitchen to breathlessly announce that "Michael is saying the "S" word over and over and he's saying it to ME."

I went to the playroom, ready to "deal with it" and told Michael to "say that word to me, since you like it so much..I have a bar of soap right here"..

He looked down and very quietly said "stupid".

To my youngest son, THAT was "the "S" word.. We had a long talk about calling anyone stupid, and that was the end of it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that when we relegate "those" words to "letter-only" status, we do not diminish the impact of them, we only pile them up like lumps under a rug, and unseen lumps can be interpreted in so many ways, by different people.

Some words are hurtful, but they DO serve a purpose, by shining a light on those people who use them..

3. I dunno
shit is post processed food.

It's a fact of biology and I personally don't think there's anything wrong or dirty about the word not even in the slightest.

Americans generally speaking are prudes second in line only to the Taliban.

Stupid? Who cares. What's more important to teach your kid is the difference between judging the performance and judging the performer.

If they get a handle on that, they might learn to decide for themselves what appropriate language and its uses are.
