This is absolutely the most sickening
and disgusting item (specifically the price) on ebay I've ever seen.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-PlayStation-3-NBA-Live-Madden-07-3yr-Extras_W0QQitemZ260057407300QQihZ016QQcategoryZ62054QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Sony PlayStation 3 - NBA Live & Madden 07 +3yr & Extras
Sports Lovers Dream w/ Special Delivery Options WOW!! Item number: 260057407300

price: US $2,000,000.00

This is NO JOKE! This person claims to be a school teacher married to another teacher who won't be able to afford to send their kids to college without this. As a teacher - also married to another teacher, I am embarrassed at this extortion. We have already educated my husbands 2 sons and have 2 young daughters who will in 8 years + also need educated.

Would anyone with that kind of money even be shopping ebay, or am I just naive?

1. Gotta be a joke. Two million dollars?
You could buy Madden himself for HALF that.

16. They're just trying to get "PR!"
People can still bid, and they'll sell the product to he or she who bids highest.

2. Seems to me that anyone with that kind of money
would either already have the private cellphone of a Sony connection, or be able to figure it out.

If someone is seriously considering paying that amount of money, particularly to an eBay seller...well, that's obscene in my book.

7. all the real ps3 auctions are going for a about 700-1000 dollars
by real, I mean auctions where the two parties participating in the transaction will actually deliver the goods/money.

anything much past 1200 dollars is a gimmick that nobody has any intention of selling/buying.

9. on ebay - yeah
and I don't think it's a gimmick. It's not an auction - it's a Buy It Now.

8. I doubt it is a legitimate bid
It happens sometimes: a joker will place an impossible bid on something. Eh. :eyes:

10. What extortion? . . .
Someone's selling a product with high demand for an exorbitant price. There's no extortion; the seller isn't forcing anyone to buy it. Who the seller is and why they need the money is irrelevant. If some idiot wants to pay such bucks for a toy (and frankly, I find the MSRP too high), then who am I to say the seller is anything other than one lucky bastard.

23. When Playstation 3s Were Going for Over $2000
I investigated getting some shipped from China. But by the time I had the information, the prices had dropped to $1300-1500, and Japanese versions (which were the ones available) were selling for $800-900, which made it unprofitable. The market responsed incredibly fast.

This is a shot in the dark. The sellers are just trying to up the best offer.
