Bush,Maliki to discuss "new phase" of Iraq violence

TALLINN, Nov 27 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush will discuss with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki violence in Iraq that has moved into a "new phase", a senior White House official said on Monday.

"We're clearly in a new phase, characterised by this increasing sectarian violence that requires us obviously to adapt to that new phase and these two leaders need to be talking about how to do that," Stephen Hadley, White House national security adviser, told reporters travelling with Bush to Estonia. Bush will meet Maliki in Jordan later this week.

2. New phase = civil war. Go ahead and say it, everyone knows it's true.
The White House is hiding nothing by not acknowledging what is really going on in Iraq. It's a civil war. Any idiot knows that. (Except for Bush, that is.)

4. Is the abyss phase?
I guess when they stared into it a few weeks ago, they were just calculating how to get a running start before they jumped.

5. They are hell bent on avoiding saying "civil war"
...because they know public support will flatline when people find out our soldiers are stuck in the middle of one.

6. I guess this means we have turned another corner.
Of course, to me it looks like the corner right before you discover the bridge is washed out.

7. Yeah, now they'll have to rewrite the history
books for the Schools, so that when Lincoln gives his Gettysburg Address, they can talk all about the NEW PHASE in the US during that period, where more men died than any war all together on American Soil..

The South Shall RIZE again, and think of all those aging New Phase Veterans, and those NEW PHASE Re-enactments they do in the south :)

8. Newspeak lives! The bureau of truth. How absurd is this characterization?
There must be a term for describing a horrible thing by a bland word. Like collateral damage for killing children.

Why not call it:

It's the throes of birth of a new democracy.

Even idiot GOPers would see past that characterization of Iraq's bloody civil war.

11. Oh for Pete's Sake... "a new phase."
They'll call it dog whoopee if they think it'll sound better than civil war.

If this ISN'T a civil war, I'd be curious to know what they think a civil war IS.
