Who the hell is micheal richards, anyway? and who the hell cares?
OK, I never saw sinefeld. Not once. Never. I never ever flipped by accidently with my remote. I am sure that some will tell me I don't know what I missed. I guess I am culturally illiterate. But, geez, during that time I could
a) turn off the TV
b) watch international soccer
c) read a book
d) watch really bad Pam Anderson divorce videos
e) watch really bad britnee spears divorce & sex videos.
f) other.

So, despite my best efforts to remain clueless about who and what he is, (or until recently, was), what I have learned about this richards guy is this: his career was a shambles before this event. he is apparently not at all talented or funny. His one big shot in life was the synefeld show (sp?) and since then, he has almost starved due to his lack of talent. OK. so he is a closet racist. SO what? Why should I care?

Worse yet, WHY has the MSM switched from bodacious, buxom, bimbo-ish besotted blondes missing from carib islands, and swtiched to old, untalented, immaterial and boring people who yell racially based sayings at people not of the same race or creed? Heck, i can see that across the street from me - a religious Bush supporter hates (in his words) "spics, blackies and asiatics" repeatedly - (and to which my spousette qualifies). Get a beer in him, and get the video ready. His tirades are actually amusing. So long as he never owns a gun.

At least with missing aruba bimbos and bimbettes, we could almost pretend to care while we watched MSM try to find the most sexually appealling photo without appearing to pander to the TV couch potato crowd. So, why would MSM concentrate so many resources on richards?

Have we run out of missing bimbos and bimbettes? (Did King George's whereabouts suddenly become a state secret?) ((are the twins getting into such deep shit in South America, that even mentioning a blond bimbo would draw too much attention to King George's really-off-spring?))

Ok, and if anyone can educate me as to why I should care about what a failed TV hack/bad comic/racist bigot says, please - I am all ears.

1. This incident serves a purpose...
...in the sense that it brings about necessary dialogue about race. Sadly, many have forgotten the lessons of Katrina.

If there's a plus in all of this, it's that the corporate media is talking about racial issues again.

3. It's kinda like when Ellen DeGeneres "came out."
A peanut in a Snickers bar.

4. Uuummm, did anyone suppose that Richards wanted this to
happen thus was seeking publicity? That is, due to his crummy career tailspin after "Seinfeld." If so, then he wins. Who said something like . . . "I love to read my name in the newspaper. Doesn't matter about what as long as they spell my name correctly." Does this sound like Richards? Maybe it's Richards' out-reach for an Andy Warhol 15-seconds-of-fame bc Richards knows he's a dud?

6. From everything I've read, Richards (in his stand-up) is an "on-the-edge"...
...comedian. Sadly, I think his "stream-of-consciousness" routine took a dark turn last week. Perhaps he was secretly harboring resentment towards up-and-comers like Chris Rick and Dave Chappelle?

Whatever spurred his tirade, it came from within - and it was a wake-up call for him... and for the rest of us.

5. Education comes from within - but his tirade is significant for several
reasons. The Seinfeld series is out on dvd and used to be heavily syndicated. Many people DO know who he is/was and considered him entertaining, at least during the Seinfeld series.

It is shocking and disgusting that someone who once had the world by a string would utter such obscenity in his professional capacity. I don't know how much coverage this is getting on TV (I don't watch the MSM) but I have heard bits and pieces on NPR and seen more on DU.

Then there are all the connotations about the show being a unique, unconventional, platform for social commentary during its day. FYI - Seinfeld was somewhat radical in the way that it pushed back against social convention and exposed some of societies ironies and inconsistencies. I think the RW media is just falling all over themselves at the spectacle of "one of them liberals" cracking and spewing racial insults.

So, it is not so much what he said as much as it is that they (the RW media conglomerates) are enjoying Richards implosion.
