Cheney will be next to leave? .... LINK

"CQ Analyst Suggests ‘Rumsfeld’s Leaving Is Just The Beginning,’ Cheney Might Be Next »
Appearing on MSNBC this afternoon, Congressional Quarterly political analyst Craig Crawford speculated that, as “neocons are heading for the hills,” Dick Cheney may be the next to leave the administration. He claimed the Vice President’s “authority is waning, if not gone.” “And my point is why would he want to stick around in this environment?” he asked. “All I’m seeing is a man getting isolated more and more.”

Head on over and watch the video.

1. He's leaving but trust me, the bastard won't be gone
It'll be 'health reasons' for Cheney's departure in hopes of putting the republican 2008 nominee in the VP slot for a setup with the next election

3. I'm not so sure that any Republican with Presidential aspirations is going
to jump on this opportunity. That's 2 years to be associated with Bush. 2 years to be associated with the Iraqi disaster and the investigations into the WH crimes. If this happens, it will be a defense against impeachment. Let's remember how well Jerry Ford did after Nixon resigned....

4. interesting comment -- cheney has always intended to leave during 2nd term
from the comments section...

There has always been speculation that the only way Cheney convinced bush to allow him on the ticket was to promise that he would resign in the second term to allow the repubs to put their number one candidate into the VP spot and have a leg up on “experience” when running in ‘08. I don’t see that changing at this point.

6. Sounds like more of the
Cheney will leave to create a sitting VP and a viable candidate of their choosing talk. If he leaves, he leaves. Whatever....

8. When Your NeoCon Friends Lose Influence, Sitting in Underground Bunker is No Fun...
Cheney's power has always been behind the figurehead(43). He is about to be exposed by and dragged before a Congressional investigatory committee to testify under oath, and anything he can do to drag this out and fight it will be more successful if he is not VP.

I believe that Cheney lost the battle of the WH when Libby was charged and Rove 'threw him under the bus' to save himself from indictment by Fitzgerald.

I believe Rove and Bush are necessarily allied now, and Cheney and Libby are turning up the pressure for Bush to eventually grant them pardons ala Iran/Contra.

In addition to the absolute disaster Iraq has turned out to be, 43 turned to 41 for help knowing that Rove could not deliver the majority in the midterms, that Rove will be exposed and forced out of the WH before the end of 43's term, and to protect 43's legacy from the coming revelations.

This is all supposition based on what we know and can infer from those facts. Nothing more. But the pieces do appear to fit...

10. I think Condi Will Have To Be Dragged Kicking & Screaming From the WH & "her husband"...
She will never voluntarily leave the WH. It will take a concerted effort on behalf of 41's team to get rid of her, and you can bet she knows plenty on 'Georgie Boy.' Could make for an entertaining 'tell all book.'

If you are right, this will be great 'theatre.' Keep popcorn handy!!
