I love President Carter!
Can't really go into why right now because tomorrow is my first day back to work in ten months.

I was just watching the rerun of Larry King and he's on there, making all the sense in the world and being a world class statesman and loving his ideas about peace in the ME.

Just wanted to throw that out there and see if it sticks.

2. Me Three
He had some issues as President - some of them PR problems, really - but he was, and is, a good and smart person.

Our presidents since his tenure have ranged from awful to hideous.

In Depth: Jimmy Carter

Former President Jimmy Carter is the guest on Book TV's December In Depth. Mr. Carter is the author of a new book, "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid," and more than twenty others, including "Our Endangered Values: America's Moral Crisis," "Keeping Faith: Memories of a President," "The Virtues of Aging," "An Hour Before Daylight: Memories of a Rural Boyhood," and "The Blood of Abraham: Insights into the Middle East." He co-authored "Everything to Gain: Making the Most of the Rest of Your Life" with his wife, Rosalynn Carter. In Depth will air live from President Carter's home in Plains, Georgia.

A 1946 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Jimmy Carter served in the navy until his father's death in 1953, when he took over the family farm in Plains, Georgia. He was a Georgia State Senator and Georgia's Governor, prior to running for President. Jimmy Carter was elected President of the United States in 1976 and served from 1977 to 1981. In 1982 he founded the Carter Center in Atlanta. The Carter Center's mission is to resolve conflict, promote democracy, protect human rights, and prevent disease around the world. President Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

9. He;s 82 and I doubt he'd want thejob after Shrub has f'd everything up
so badly, but I sure wish we could find someone very much like him to be our candidate! I'm sure they're out there somewhere. The problem is, if they aren't already very wealthy, it's almost impossible for them to become POTUS!

8. He's great. And was underestimated as a president
Although I've heard him say that he thinks he's a better former president than he was a president.

I'm proud to say that my aunt dated him when they were in college! We have a photo of the two of them in front of my grandparent's farm. How cool is that? My grandfather thought he was a 'nice boy' but wouldn't amount to much!!! (not proud of that part).

15. I often wonder if he had been re-elected,
what a different world we would be living in now. I suspect we'd be well on our way to alternative fuels & global warming would be held in check. America would be a kinder, gentler nation in actions, not just meaningless words. The world would be a better place for it.

17. President Carter was on CBC radio yesterday
Listen ...

Jimmy Carter

When you hear the words Peace and Apartheid, you can't be blamed for thinking about South Africa and its long struggle against racial injustice. But now a former U.S. president is using those words to describe the Israeli-Palestinian crisis.

Jimmy Carter was the thirty-ninth President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. He brokered the first ever peace agreement between Arabs and Israelis at Camp David between Anwar al-Sadat of Egypt and Menachem Begin of Israel in 1978.

Now, in the midst of a mounting crisis in the Middle East, especially in the Gaza Strip, Jimmy Carter has a provocative new book titled Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid. Jimmy Carter joined us from New York City.
