Britain To Reduce Troop Levels In Iraq, As The "Coalition Of The Willing" Shrinks Some More
Click here to read the whole story, and to check the list of countries that have exited -- in whole or in part -- the "coalition of the willing." It's a very long list.

<snip>

The Bush Administration doesn't use the term "coalition of the willing" much anymore to describe the multi-national effort in Iraq and Afghanistan -- in part because the coalition is falling apart.

Great Britain isn't planning to leave just yet, but it does have one foot out the door. Defense Secretary Des Browne told BBC News yesterday that his nation's 7,000 troops would be significantly reduced by the end of 2007.

1. I can't think of the people of any country who backs the coalition
Our troops, and our pocketbooks, are paying for W's "You broke it you pay for it" war.

3. even if they backed it in 2003
they aren't backing it now.

the populations never supported it -- it had 14% popularity in spain, for example -- but countries, especially in Europe, felt a loyalty to suppor the U.S., in part for what we did in World War II and thereafter.

But I think most of the countries realized at some point that the numbers didn't add up. That Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. That there were no WMD. That Bush may have cherry picked facts to build his case.

And why should any troops die for that?

5. Its such an idiotic doublespeak slogan in any event
"coalition of the willing?"...what, as opposed to a coalition of the 'unwilling'?

6. I think FIJI is still onboard ! Because we're paying them.
Yes, the mighty USA had to pressure FIJI to send ONE BATTALION, and FIJI only agreed when the mighty USA agreed to pay their way, completely.

But, how does that work? If we are paying them, are they still part of the Mighty Coalition of the Willing? or are they demoted to the regular Coalition of the Bribed?
