8. Some of those sheeple remain ignorant |

I almost heard "if it's not blue against gray, north against south," etc., "it's not a civil war", from some of the callers.
Personally sounds a lot about the meaining of _is_ - what is important is a war was waged based on lies and misrepresentations, and we are on the verge of losing the war or killing on a large scale or pretending we won and go home. But we will leave Iraq in such a state of chaos, we will have to return or allow really bad things to happen.
Yeah, glad the media is finally calling the shots the way they are not the fantasy spin, GWB and crew put out.

2. I don't think its a civil war |
|
The last "civil" war we had involved lines of guys standing across from each other, and shooting in a gentlemanly fashion.

between the Vietnam War and this is: In Vietnam we intervened in a civil war, and we had no business being there. The result was an ongoing foreign policy disaster and over 58,000 dead GIs for no good reason other than a misguided President from Texas. In Iraq we set the stage for a civil war by invading and occupying a sovereign country. Now our troops are walking targets in a hostile environment because of a misguided President from Texas..

I'd add one more line:
"Both wars were entered into based upon deliberate lies told by that President."

5. This Isn't Vietnam...It's Lebanon, 1983 |

The fact the corporate media is so compromised they can't call something for what it is is a indictment of how whipped and intimidated they are by this regime and its wingnut enablers. I don't need a moron like Lauer or anyone else to tell me what a civil war is and what it isn't. If anything, it shows how little we DO know what's going on there.
Our military is surrounded by different enemies in different areas...all with their own bloodlust and agendas...and while they hate the Shiites or Sunnis, they both have one thing in common...their hatred of the American occupiers. Cities have now segregated into tribal enclaves and we really have no clue as to who is going after who or what the strength is of the forces against us. If anything, this regime will try to use the fractionalization as a conveluted rationalization for us to remain. I expect to hear the meme that "if we withdraw, we will open the gates to a bloodbath"...uh, isn't that what's going on?
Now C-SPAN brings on a militarist propagandist who is blaming the "media" for "losing the war" and ridiculing callers who is calling him on his bullshit. Seems like Washington Journal has taken it upon itself to defend the indefensible morning after morning...parading these goons and asshats from the AEI and Heritage Institute. Any "liberal" or even moderate voice always has a right wing "minder" sitting next to them so any truths can be spun and the red meat thrown to C-SPAN's Repugnican masters.

but it's also the biggest family feud there ever was. Makes the Hatfield-McCoy thing look like a schoolyard dust-up. It is without doubt, everybody's worst case scenario whether they want to admit it or not. Since no one in this administration had the foresight or guts to plan for such an eventuality, we are stuck firmly with our asses hanging out with no one even willing to help. Nice job george, you twat. ed:sp
