Bush has completely blown it. How can Iraq be taken from his hands?
Would Congress need to impeach and remove GWB in order to take away his post as Commander in Chief, or other war powers?
It seems to me that the first step in correcting things would be to remove the incredibly bad leadership from the efforts in Iraq.

1. It already has been.
"The Iraq Study Group" -- also known as Poppy's Clean Up Crew -- is in charge now.

2. Sort Of
The Founders did not list incompetence as a reason for impeachment. However, Bush has also engaged in high crimes and misdemeanors, so he can safely be impeached - and MUST be impeached.

3. Impeachment is too good for him.
He needs to be tried for war crimes.

4. Why not just exile him to to Baghdad?
Give him $25 and a Vietnam era flak jacket and let him make his own way in the world for once, a world he created.

8. I cannot state here what needs to be done.
It's so wrong on so many levels, yet would solve so many problems.

5. Yes: CiC is part-and-parcel with being president
The only way to remove his authority as Commander In Chief is to remove his presidential authority. The only way to remove his presidential authority is to remove him from the presidency through retirement, impeachment or other, less subtle means.

6. bush and cheney have been sent on 'field trips' around the world..........
Edited on Tue Nov-28-06 09:26 AM by Double T
while the 'damage control squad' is busy trying to find ANYWAY out of the HORRENDOUS MESS bushco has created. The USA has two black eyes and is down for the count in the eyes of the world; hopefully the bi-partisan 'study group' can find a solution. Regional talks INVOLVING ALL ME NATIONS with the absence of the totally incompetent WH and cabinet members would be a GOOD START.

7. Unfortunately, without a parlimentary system we are screwed. We do not have the
equivalent of a "no confidence vote" that forces the resignation of the PM. All we have is impeachment, a very blunt tool so it is used very infrequently (or at least was, until recently). On the one hand, the lack of the "no confidence" option has given us great stability in the Executive which has served us well most of the time. OTOH, there are times - such as with Hoover in 1930 or Bush in 2005 after Katrina, when this option would almost certainly have been invoked if we were in a parlimentary system.
