It has now moved beyond a "civil war" - it is now chaos and anarchy... |
|
A "civil war" connotes at least two rival "organized" political groups vying for control of one country. In Iraq we have militias, religious sects, gangs and insurrectionists, and insurgents - all creating an uncontrollable chaotic situation. Those, like Maliki and other US puppets, are only pretending to be in power. They have control over nothing. The different religious leaders are the ones in control, if there is such a thing? A civil war would mean two sides clearly defined but fighting for opposite reasons. We do not have that in Iraq. It is much worse.

6. well, if there is a method to his madness? |

He probably feels at least the troops are receiving priceless on the job training for when the anarchy and chaos breaks out over here. The returning troops, who will belong either in the mental ward or prison, instead will be patrolling our streets, and busting in our doors, as they get absorbed into our law enforcement.
"You're free. And freedom is beautiful. And, you know, it'll take time to restore chaos and order—order out of chaos. But we will."—Washington, D.C., April 13, 2003

3. Now that you mention it, this does smack of anarchy lately. |
|
Not so much because it's "all against all" - even anarchy has structure, even if it's no more than gang warfare, and militias aren't much more than better armed gangs in many cases - anarchy is largely defined by a lack of authority by the government. Well, we certainly have that!! I do believe it's been said the US is just another tribe. As far as Iraq is concerned, this is largely true.

5. exactly what Tom Friedman said this morning on NBC Today Show |
|
The fragmentatin in Iraq is beyond the definition of civil war, and the situation is "worse than civil war".
Chimpy achieved a fuck-up of proportions that even Daddy's friends can't fix.

9. The puppet government of Iraq derives its power from the end of |
|
an American tank barrel. It is a baldly illegitimate government, put in place with a foreign army occupying the country. How could any Iraqi think of it as legitimate?
