Seasonal - Could not "A Christmas Carol" be a modern parable about Scrooge going from Repub to Dem? |
|
When you think about it -
Young Ebenezer rejects true love for avarice, builds a business (on the back of the underpaid with no health insurance Bob Cratchit ) and amasses wealth from which he derives no joy and does no good to anyone.
It's only when he treats his employee fairly and begins to distribute the wealth that he earns a place in the heart of his fellow man and derives the joy from giving that was denied him in hoarding.
Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Man!!
(Casting - Dick Cheney as Scrooge, Rumsfeld as Jacob Marley, John Edwards as Nephew Fred, Dennis Kucinich as Bob Cratchit)

I'm honestly shocked it hasn't been banned yet for having a "socialist" theme.

2. Scrooge was definately conservative, no doubt about it. Although, the puzzling thing |
|
is that he receives no joy from his wealth. But that's probably cause he lived back before industry really took off.
If Scrooge was alive now, he'd be the same conservative asshole, but he would now find lots of joy from his money with his Hummer H2 and his 61" plasma TV...

7. No, he'd have his plasma TV and Hummer, |
|
but get no real joy from them, any more than than his modern compatriots do. "More-ism" is a disease, which can never be satisfied.
