Peace is Satanic, according to people in Pagosa Springs, CO
Edited on Tue Nov-28-06 01:12 PM by Rocknrule
I recently read an article in a local school newspaper that mentioned people in Pagosa Springs complaining about neighbors putting up a wreath with a peace sign, calling it anti-Christian, anti-American, and Satanic

http://media.www.collegian.com/media/storage/paper864/news/2006/11/28/News/Subdivision.Bans.Christmas.Wreath.With.Peace.Sign-2509435.shtml?sourcedomain=www.collegian.com&MIIHost=media.collegepublisher.com

DENVER - In a town in scenic southwestern Colorado homeowners are battling over whether a Christmas wreath that includes a peace sign is an anti-Iraq war protest or even a promotion of Satan.

"We have had three or four complaints. Some people have kids in Iraq and they are sensitive," said Bob Kearns, president of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association in Pagosa Springs. He also said some believe it is a symbol of Satan.

Jeff Heitz, of the association board, sent a letter to Lisa Jensen saying: "Loma Linda residents are offended by the peace sign displayed on the front of your house. ... This Board will not allow any signs, flags etc. that can be considered divisive...."

Because we all know how much Jesus hated peace :sarcasm:

2. man the arsenic in the water in pagosa springs is satanic
and not in a good way.

Satan satan satan!

wasn't 'e the bloke that questioned blind faith? color me satanic. crazy ass inbred christians up there, what do you expect?

:hide:

Seriously, if it's not in the drinking water they don't have an excuse. Left to their own devices these are the same kind of people who burned presumed witches at the stake and that was with the fear of god in their hearts. I'm not quite sure what "good" is in the medieval christian sense any more these days.

And just who determines what flag might be considered "divisive"? What about, say, the Confederate flag? Divisive, or not?

4. Ever wonder how things might change if Jews, Moslems,
Buddhists, etc. made six week celebrations out of their Prince of Peace? Let's see xx number of religions times six weeks is ......?

Think about how many symbols could be considered satanic by some group or other? Or is it only Christians who believe in Satan?

5. Three or four mentally handicapped people run that town. I wonder
what would happen if those 3 or 4 people decided Jeff Heitz was a tool of Satan. Would he be banished?

Hey, can 3 or 4 people complain about him? Make sure you sound super-moronic.

14. Hey, now! Let's not diss the town --
the developers started building those planned communities - monster homes, man-made ponds, and golf courses - about 12-15 years ago. They could buy the land because the ranchers couldn't afford to hang on to it anymore.

The folks that live in those communities are newbies to the area, most with too much money and not enough brains to find their ass with both hands -- but they're not the town.

Yeah, Pagosa has always been more conservative than not; most rural mountain towns are that way -- but it was also a fun, funky place with a realistic attitude toward the world and all the varieties of people who inhabit it.

Those people who moved in are the problem -- not the town -- and if you want to talk moronic, let's consider the people who sign the damned covenants to live in those planned communities . . .

6. This reminds me of the Procter & Gamble 'profits going to satan-
worshippers' nonsense from several years ago- regarding their corporate logo. Rather than fight it, P&G ultimately dumped their historic 'crescent moon & stars' logo.

7. There are some fundies and evangelicals who think the peace sign
is a satanic symbol, or at least anti-Christian.

They say it's the Cross of Nero or a broken cross. That nutty cartoon fundie, JT Chick, promotes this view in his little tracts. :eyes:

that I've ever heard about.

They must be completely brainwashed. I pity them for their wilful ignorance.

10. Keith Olbermann reported on this last night! He was appalled that
the head of the condo couldn't recognize the peace sign, and Keith berated him saying that it's Christmas time, you know the time when you wish peace on earth...

AHHHHhhhhhh  :silly: :yoiks:

This is one of the most ridiculous things yet.

That Kearns guy fired everyone on the committee (for not going along with him and demanding the peace wreath be removed). Someone should fire him!!!
