U.S. Offers $50,000 Reward For Missing Soldier In Iraq

November 9, 2006 4:12 p.m. EST

Matthew Borghese - All Headline News Staff Writer
Washington, D.C. (AHN) - The U.S. military will pay up to $50,000 for information leading to the safe return of Army Reserve Spc. Ahmed Kousay Altaie, 41, who was kidnapped Oct. 23 in Baghdad.

The Pentagon says the search for Altaie continues. Army Gen. George W. Casey Jr., commander of Multinational Force Iraq (MNFI), says the U.S. is working with Iraqi forces for a swift recovery.

Army Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, MNFI spokesman, says, "We have fairly good information that tells us where we think he could still be held and who perhaps may have him."

According to the Pentagon, troops have conducted 51 search operations, based on 328 tips that have poured in since Altaie's abduction. Those raids netted 35 suspects, most still being detained because they are providing valuable information.

It's quite odd that we don't hear much about that. Or that we didn't hear from the captures. :(

1. No but the pilot of the down fighter jet is missing
and the US military killed six people (teenagers, a woman and a man) in their home today. The spin is it was an accident during a fire fight. Freedom from life is on the march.

2. No one cares because he is an Arab with an Iraqi wife
As to the fate of the pilot who crashed the other day, he is very dead, sadly. Al Jazerra said they had obtained a video that was too graphic to air showing the body of the pilot in his uniform.

3. He's not a blonde woman, so you can't expect cable news to cover it all the time.
