6. *shrug*... honestly, for a 13-year-old, that's a pretty good summary...
Edited on Tue Nov-28-06 03:14 PM by dmesg
...of the key facts of Antigone. I'm not expecting a 13-year-old to get at the more "deep" or "profound" parts of Antigone, but she did seem to not only get the facts but catch on to the motivations of the principle characters. Not bad.

(Full disclosure: I've always thought Britney was tacky but she never struck me as dumb or insensitive, and this kind of backs that up to me.)

7. you've certainly made me reconsider
Edited on Tue Nov-28-06 03:23 PM by CatWoman
I used to think that people who spelled "their" as there, and "rumor" as "roomer" and "know" as "no" were complete idiots.

consider me enlightened.

Britney's literary legacy up for auction: At an upcoming auction of celebrity memorabilia, Christie's will try to sell off a charming junior-high paper by Britney Spears on Sophocles' "Antigone." (The auction house's Web site gives the item an estimated value of $500-$700). She gets good comments on her organization but points taken away for poor penmanship and spelling mistakes like "Their was a roomer about her burying her bother ..." Overall grade: 88. (ONTD, Christie's)

10. I must admit that I have no idea what 13 year olds are taught
however, I hope spelling and grammar are still part of the curriculum.

8. What really scares me about this
is the huge number of misspellings and bad grammar that were not marked up. (I'm assuming the marks were done by the teacher.)

"Is our children learning?"

13. I'm still not convinced * said that
I can't believe I'm sticking up for both Britney and * in a single thread... I hope somebody burns the log of this...

I've listened to that clip many times, and I can't help but conclude that what * said was:

"The question we should be asking ourselves is: 'are children learning?'"

14. Meh. He's said so many incoherent, asinine things
it hardly matters whether it was his poor delivery and/or sentence construction or actual idiocy and abuse of the English language. No matter how you slice it, he's an aural/visual horror show.

:scared:
