2. We do the "Google your name" deal every once in a while
I found myself quoted on FR and other RW message boards and blogs. I'm honored! I love that they hate me so much:)

My b/f googles his old band's name once in a while too... amazing that some people are still talking about them.

12. Google your name....
I understand what that means, but why would it lead you to being mentioned on an FR site?
Did you mean google your DU handle?

had the most references on google.

The question now is what DUer leads on hits in the NSA domestic spying?

5. I google my name all the time
Edited on Tue Nov-28-06 04:03 PM by mtnester
My online moniker and my real name as well.

It was out there quite frequently during the 2004 Ohio recount mess which I was submerged in.

13. When I Google my real name, I come up with several people ...
who are not me.

To get to any reference to me, one has to scroll through several pages of results.

21. So do I
I have emailed some of them, but the other-me's do not write back. One of them was going to my alma mater and he even looked a little bit like me, only ten years younger. I told him he should look up some of my old profs and pretend to be me.

10. It is a public message board
Shouldn't surprise anyone. But I'm sure I've forgotten where I was on occassion and spilled some intimate details. Good thing to keep in mind, especially in the heat of anger.

22. I always use this nickname on online boards
Imagine my shock when I googled my real name and the posts I had on A Silver Lining came up. This is a board especially for bipolar people. I'm out of the closet about it, so to speak, but I'm pretty sure there are people posting there that would rather it be personal and private. Obviously there is no such thing as privacy online and that's the downside to going online.

25. michelle malkin quoted me awhile back, which made my post
hit a lot of right wing search engines.

it was an offhand comment, although I stand by it, I think its bizarre of all the things I've posted, they picked that one.

I said if what Zarquawi (sp?) does benefits Bush's agenda, then connect the dots, who is pulling whose strings?

I still stand by that. I still think there was a lot of very convenient timing of terra events right when Bush needed to prop up his ratings.

however, it made me feel sullied and dirty that a nutjob like Malkin and her ilk are hanging on my every word.
I don't go out of my way to quote freepers, I leave them pretty much alone.

:)

27. That's why I use a different ID everywhere I post
"SheWhoMustBeObeyed" is used by a variety of people for a variety of purposes. Unless it links back to DU, it ain't me.

On political boards I use variations of my DU name that would make sense should I wish to identify myself as a DUer. On nonpolitical boards I give no clues that connect me to political stuff. I even use a different e-mail to register. I don't need stalkers trying to piece together my life for whatever purpose.
