Why is the president defying the people's wishes so arrogantly? |
|
What gives him the arrogance to say fuck you all, I'll have my war and you can all suck it? Why do we still allow him to pretend he is the president? When are we going to snap out of it?
We told the fuckers in no uncertain terms, the war is a disaster, get us the fuck out of there, right now, what part of this message did they not understand?
Am I crazy, or should the president obey our will instead of defy it? What the fuck America, at some point you have to admit that we are allowing him to continue his war, and we are FAILING to do our duty and DEFY HIS ASS, not the other way around.
Just who the fuck is in charge here, the president, or the people?
I wish I knew.

4. It boils down to a central issue that is rarely discussed (to my knowledge): |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-28-06 04:42 PM by MJDuncan1982
Are our elected leaders representatives or delegates?
That is, are they an efficiency mechanism for democracy who should read the polls and vote accordingly or are they elected for their ability to make good decisions?
Obviously there is a spectrum here and particular issues rarely fall on either extreme...
That said, Bush probably views national security/war as falling more on the "delegate" end of the spectrum. Therefore, public opinion means little...
Anyone know of any good literature discussing the distinction? If none exists, I propose a separate thread to help hash out the idea and I'll put it on my Life To Do List.

If he continues to "stay the course", then the war isn't lost (in his mind) and there is a chance for victory. Once victory is achieved, he can then tell everyone that was right about Iraq.
We all know that Pissy Pants is fooling himself -- there will be no victory. Shrub just won't accept that....therefore, more innocent people will have to die for his arrogance.

I'm sure not everyone shares your view. There are A LOT of people who know that Saddam needed to be removed and way before this president. It needed done years ago by his dad and after that with Clinton. It's just coming a bit late.... Hussein has been performing atrocities for years. I can't belive how bad people take their freedom for granted.

We are NOT the world's police force. We do not get to decide who is a good enough leader. He was good enough for us at one time to sell weapons to him.
If we used your standard, we would do this to ANY dictator. Obviously we haven't. Actually we do only when they have outlived their usefullness to us (see Noriega).

does he care...he and the corporations & the Pentagon are making billions of dollars off wars...Got to keep them going...he doesn't give a fuck what you or I think...in two years it'll ALL be someone else' problem.
Are you thinking impeachment? Impeachment takes month's of investigations before the proceedings even begin...maybe if the Dems started investigations with no interference from the republicans or media(count on huge interference from both to slow things down) this spring of 2007 Bush might be impeached sometime by June 20008...I'll wait for the elections in November, thank you...
Bush knows all this, so why in the fuck does he care what we all think, he knows he's gone in two years and he and all the rest of the slime keep raking in the huge bucks on death each and everyday.

"If (America) were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator." George W. Bush, December 18, 2000
I have had that quote pasted to my office wall since I first heard him say it. He repeated variations of that statement at least four times before the Presidential election of 2000. He defies the wishes of the American public because, in his twisted heart and mind, he views himself as the sole arbitrator of what is right and good for America. And (surprise) what is right and good for America is always what is right and good for him. We are his minions, whose only job is to laugh at his jokes, wage his wars, and enrich his cronies.

|
Why hasn't anyone in Congress called for Bush and Cheney's resignations? Are these men entitled to do whatever they want and get a pass from Congress?
The concept that applies is Moynihan's "defining deviancy down." What outrages committed by Bush and Cheney would be sufficient to get this Congress upset (especially the authoritarian Republicans)?
9/11 warnings ignored. Downing street memo. Sanctioning of torture. A sinister occupation policy that called for privatization at the expense of stability.
No pardons. No "good faith" talking points. No damage control. No protracted impeachment hearings with asshole corporate media pundits crying "witchhunt."
Bush and Cheney should resign in disgrace.
