What's the real reason behind Saudi summoning Cheney?
Is it something as predictable as another oil deal/ Halliburton ... posing as a "conflict in the area" discussion? Or do they see Cheney(soon) as the future prez(I know-perish that thought!)Something is really stinking in the land of Denmark. It reeks. Or is my tin foil hat showing?

2. It's not appreciating that this back and forth is normal for Cheney's ilk
To his kind, to the Bush family, the Sauds are old friends, to be treated as such, not like, say, French presidents. No, they take this special relationship very seriously. Probably moreso than the UK because the UK can always be relied upon to be a lapdog whereas the Sauds are in a more fragile position.

6. I think the stated purpose (one of them) is true ....
... that the ruling Saudis want to stay in power and not face a spreading threat to their rule. They may be running scared. Pity they let cheney and company start this shit in the first place.

13. Go take a look at a map.
Then look up Iran's population. Then tell me how the hell you think we can do it with what's left of our army which is still fighting TWO wars.

14. I don't think they are planning sending in the army.
It could be the :tinfoilhat: talk of nukes might be real. Nagasaki and Hiroshima only took a couple of airplanes and their crews. Maybe this is what the Saudis are conferring with Cheney about. I can't imagine nuclear fallout would be good for any nations in the ME no matter how friendly they are with us.

15. mine is this
as the rest of the world understands that Iraqnam is a quagmire of historic proportions, and that "stay the course" and attack Iran next are guaranteed to take down every bit of civilization in that region. I think they were warning him - sternly - to shut the F U, and start getting troops out of baghdad. He was taken to task, not consulted with.

A two hour tour? That is message sending through the waterboy, not practiced diplomacy. Remember, the saudis are masters at appearances and style - at the same time that negotiating with them is tougher than bedding a married bedouin. They put great amounts of stress on diplomatic niceties, something that even Darth Cheney can understand.

The shortness of this meeting means that someone was taken to the woodshed - and it probably was a message for Bush. Remember, Iran and the Saudis are cooperating quietly on the issues of truly crazy fundies. They both fear and hate them. And both have domestic problems with the ultraconservative activists. Sauds have never wanted us to invade Iran, and probably view our four aircraft carrier tasks forces as a major problem. If we do attack Iran, watch Saudi Arabia erupt in flames. They know that. Cheney may not.

9. I have noticed when one of the royal Saudis summons, this
administration's officials drop everything and obey. Makes me wonder if they are our real rulers. Maybe the Saudis didn't like how our election came out and are trying to give tell the means to fix things or else.

Martial law anyone?

Bush attacks Iran, Iran may send a package or ten to Saudi Arabia that could disrupt their oli pipelines, Saudi's aren't over-confident with Bush.

21. 19 more hijackers?
When anything good happens for the Democrats or if the Republics are shown in a bad light we can expect an elevation in the terra alert system for proof that our country is not safe and will not be protected by the Dems. I hope they aren't planning another 9/11 to rally the country behind them again. Crooks and liars. SOB's.
