Here an odd fact! I just found this "Google Trends" site and you'll never guess who...
Edited on Tue Nov-28-06 07:49 PM by Up2Late
...(and in what language) is ranked #1 when it comes to Googleing the word "sex" and "porn!" <http://google.com/trends>

1. Cairo, Egypt

2. Chennai, India

3. Delhi, India

4. Mumbai, India

5. Izmir, Turkey

6. Ankara, Turkey

7. Istanbul, Turkey

8. Warsaw, Poland

9. Birmingham, United Kingdom

10. Brussels, Belgium

And the #1 language, by far is Arabic. Turkish is a distant #2.

I wonder why? I wonder if it's because we (in English) get bombarded by ads and Spam and they don't or what?

It's a very interesting site (for a few minutes at least), but I couldn't find any other search terms that even came close to the same frequency as the two I mentioned above, but here's the last 5 I tried. Enter these terms, to see what I'm talking about, at this link: <http://google.com/trends>

Sex, Porn, War, MySpace, YouTube

Here's another interesting site too, if you're into Statistics: <http://searchenginewatch.com/showPage.html?page=2156041>

Any ideas for other search terms to try?

3. That's so cool that you can see where those Google searches are coming from...
...and when they started too.

Central Florida and about the 2nd quarter of 2004.

I may need to research the timing of all that interest, was that when Fahrenheit 9/11 came out?

20. christmas trending
Edited on Wed Nov-29-06 06:26 PM by sweetheart
I have several discoveries in this data i'd like to represent.

The first i call the winter craving, this is a seasonal interest.

search 'jesus', 'enlightenment', 'karl marx', 'champagne', 'abortion' and a person is more
likely to search for these in fall/spring/winter... even shakespeare. All have a
midsummer dip in narrative pervasiveness.

The second "the summer boost:

'highland games', 'glacier', 'loans', 'war games'... the summer cycle narrative.

spikers:

'turkey', 'christmas', 'schiavo', 'democratic underground'

That's at least 3 time-trends that are clearly visible to the naked eye,
identifiable trends in human cycles of interest media driven, wow! :-)

Thanks for that, Mr. google doing justice stuff.

Even if I immediately wonder what they do EXACTLY with the search logs...

And also, the Y graph badly needs a scale so you know what you're looking at.

But great fun nevertheless! Thanks.
