I applaud Cindy Sheehan's stance against a possible draft.
Charles Rangel needs to listen to her. If he wants to resolve anything then Rangel should be active in bringing the troops home from Iraq. The draft will only exacerbate the situation. I highly agree when Sheehan stated one of her arguments against a proposed draft...

".... a draft will only give the war machine more of our children to consume to generate its wealth. As Rep. Rangel said, we can't fight wars in North Korea and Iran without a draft. I say "Amen!" We can't fight wars in North Korea and Iran without a draft! More bullet sponges for two more needless wars: Please, God, no!"

4. As long as there are humans... there will be a "war machine"....
Its a sad statement.. but a true one. Certainly in some utopian society during a time far far in the future this may not be the case. But today, and for the remainder of my life on this planet, there is no chance our "human race" will adopt compassion as a replacement for violence. The only chance we have of ending war is to make it so other mothers, like Cindy, protest with their vote by not electing representatives that support to concept that "war is an end to a means".

The best way to do that is make if personal. If they are threatened with the prospect that their young Biff or Buffy might actually be forced to serve.. you can bet your last $$$ they will not be voting for people that like the idea of preemptive assault on sovereign nations.

As I've said a dozen times or so... we are playing the politics of chess.. not whack-a-mole.

5. As usual Cindy is right. We need to pull the troops out of the
middle east, impeach bush and his buddies and get some honest people in office who care about this planet.Bush is leading us down the road to hell because his ego will never let him admit he is WRONG.He has always been wrong. He is a murderer and needs to be in prison with everyone who supports him.
The draft just prolongs this madness and will cause more killings to the troops and Iraqi's and bush thrives on the bloodshed. What a sadistic cold hearted bastard he is!!!!!!!
Peace now
Bring our troops home NOW
