Vietnamization is not going to work this time either...We've already lost. |
|
Politicians must have come up with this strategy, and only because they were to afraid to be honest with the American people.
A green fighting force is not going to be able to fight better than seasoned American troops.
Victory in Iraq is not possible through military solutions, because if it were our Air Force, Army, Marines and Navy would have accomplished it already.
That's the sad part about this. The politicians, instead of using their skills of political dealing to form political solutions in Iraq, are trying to form politically convenient military solutions, ones which are only solutions to their domestic political problems. (This is one problem with Iraq not being in Iraqi control, our leaders don't have to please the Iraqi people, just the American people.)
The military strategy makes no sense whatsoever, because we are training Iraqis to kill each other right at the time when Iraqis killing each other is the main problem.
There are people in Iraq so angry with people of opposing religious sects, that they are willing to kill themselves in order to kill people of opposing religious sects. Common sense says that people who volunteer for military service in Iraq are going to probably be willing to sacrifice their lives to kill other Iraqis. It's not too great of a leap to think those Iraqis will be of opposing religious sects.
In other words, we are probably training the militias we seek to destroy.
That's on top of all the other crap going on there.
The only way to really start forming a political solution in Iraq is to really turn the fate of Iraq over to the Iraqis.
Unfortunately, at this juncture it looks like the Iraqi people want to kill each other in a civil war.
In other words, it's pretty much impossible to prevent a civil war in Iraq.
We've already lost.
The longer the politicians of our country keep lying to us, and the longer we keep buying it, the longer Americans will die in Iraq in a failed war.

1. Excuse me, but Vietnamization *did* work. We got our troops out and now Vietnam runs Vietnam. |
|
I might be leaving out a few details, but that's the big picture.

3. Leaving Vietnam was the only thing that worked. |
|
the puppet government that the US tried to create through "Vietnamization" vanished. The same will be true in Iraq. The only question is how many more murders will be committed by the US invaders before they are defeated.

4. I'm a tad bit more worried about what the Iraqis are planning on doing... |
|
to themselves. That whole genocide thing is kind of gruesome.

5. If you don't think about it so much, then you can pretend things are going swimmingly. |

well it didn't work out.
I guess that kind of thing doesn't work here in reality.
