HEALDINE: Bush NIXES suggestions that Iraq is in civil war
Ya see, he's still The Decider. Election '06 taught him NOTHING, and he is still as dangerous a maniac as he was before.

====

RIGA, Latvia - Under intense pressure to change course, President Bush on Tuesday rejected suggestions Iraq has fallen into civil war and vowed not to pull U.S. troops out "until the mission is complete."

1. 700K Iraqis dead... 3000 troops dead.
Think he'll consider pulling out after he murders them all?

Idiot.

7. There's about 500,000 troops in the army. 2000 of the Iraq war fatalities are army.
Let's think about this. The averge person probably knows about 500 people. So do this thought experiment. If out of the 500 people you know personally, three were dead by violent means over the last three and a half years, how would you feel?

What if, in addition to those three violent deaths another 14 of your acquaintances were injured by that same violence over the same 43 months, five of whom were injured so bad they had to leave their jobs and never return? Two or three of them even recieved life altering injuries--loss of a leg, or arm, or eye, or neurologic motor functions. These acquaintances will never recover.

In that same time period another five friends of yours were injured in non-hostile accidents resulting from the circumstances in which they live. Another 16 succomb to diseases found in their work environment which also require them to quit their jobs, leave the area, and never return.

This is what our troops are going thru because of an optional vanity war. These statistics assume that injuries and deaths are equally spread around the military ranks. That's not true, of course. The casualties are concentrated in the infantry units (not a lot of call for armored divisions in fighting an insurgency) and a lot of good soldiers spend a lot of their careers in support and technical deployments that keep them far from the carnage.

This war is hell on our troops; Bush gave them an impossible and dangerous mission (without adequate protective gear) and can only pout and throw temper tantrums whenever someone says, "Hey, let's quit wasting all these lives on a lost cause." Unfortunately, by giving a damn about what happens to these soldiers' lives, I'm showing that I don't "support the troops." Not the way the Bush-apologists mean it, anyway.

9. It's astounding to think about these deaths on the terms you set forth.
And you are not alone in your support of the troops.

2. following his train of thought...
I have decided to nix the idea that I have to pay taxes on April 15 next year. I like that. I also think I will nix the idea of repaying the student loan people and my car note. Ahh, to be a decider.

3. The Chimp says so....
I believe we should be more interested in what the House and Senate say. They have a duty to also assess the situation in Iraq. Will they determine that Iraq is indeed in a Civil War?

5. He is mocking America and daring to be Impeached.
For those who say it would take too long for him to be Impeached I say that is wrong. Impeach this Asshole on 32 Counts of Violating the FISA Law. The evidence is avialable now and he has admitted doing so. Why bother with other Articles? Just get it done! Then Impeach Cheney.

8. One word got the knucklehead in chief going
I honestly don't know whether it is a civil war or not or if it matters, but dubby didn't like the word civil. War by itself is just fine with him but people giving it a new label was too much.
Check out the gin blossum on that drunk!
