Wow! Jay Severin just read impeachment demand on Imus right now.
I don't usually watch Imus but just caught this. Severin is a right wing radio host who used to be on a lot of cable programs sucking up to * all the time. He asked permission to read something and began reading this lengthy enumeration of *'s high crimes and misdemeanors, ending with a demand that he resign and be impeached. He said he's sorry he ever voted for him and supported the war intially. In the hell freezes over category for the day...

along with his excoriation of those of us who were correct on the war years ago..... and shove them up his ass.

I nominate........ Keith Oberman.

5. All the rats are deserting the sinking Bush Ship of State.
They're knocking each other over, fighting to be first in line off the ship and leaving Bush out there swinging from the yardarms. They're all nothing but a bunch of opportunistic, fair weather "friends" that will run from a fight at the first sign of adversity. They're Republicans, what else need be said?
I'm glad the ship is sinking, but this certainly shows what the RepubliCONS are made of, doesn't it?

Wait until they realize they're going to lose big time in 08 if they don't take some drastic action like proposing impeachment themselves.
I think it will be much better if his own party impeaches him than the Democrats doing it.

16. sent., methinks you are onto something here
remember, it was a GOP senator who told Nixon that he would lose GOP votes on impeachment.
It will take someone that bush looks up to in the GOP Senate to send a similar message.

On that note, who is the tallest GOP senator currently in office?

Because a height difference is the only way that shurb looks up to anyone. His arrogance and imcompetence are racing neck and neck to see which will come out ahead.

11. "...it's beyond Nixon..."
I thought it was outstanding for a couple of reasons. The most obvious one is that Severin's presentation could have been taken, almost word for word, from some of the things people have said on DU. The only difference is that he is willing to believe Bush was being honest in his statements before the war.

Perhaps more important is that it shows that a growing number of Americans are thinking what DUers have been saying for some time. And some republicans are actually saying it. And that is very significant, especially in light of Severon's believing Bush had been honest.

This is proof that the hand-wringing crowd who continue to bleat that we should only be aiming for investions simply do not grasp the process. They are afraid of the future. We know that the process begins with investigations. And, yes, yes, a thousand fucking times: YES. We know there aren't the votes needed in the Senate -- YET. But we trust the process. We do not fear the future, so long as we do what we know is right. We trust the Constitution.

Bleat? Afraid of the future?

This kind of hyperbole and insulting rhetoric helps nothing and no one. I have argued at length that going into January with impeachment as our main purpose will be counterproductive and destructive, and I have done so without insulting people who disagree with me. I have also done so without fear of anything, and without making animal noises of any kind.

I have great respect for your work and your opinions; in fact, I linger on the fence regarding this issue specifically because of your writings. But this kind of language is unnecessary. I am afraid I must deploy a line I get here from time to time: this is beneath you.

is aimed at those who "only" want investigations. There are those who want impeachment; those who want investyigations and have an open mind as to if impeachment should follow; and those who want "only" investigations. I assume that you consider yourself in the second group.

He's an idiot. The job of the troops never should have been to topple Hussein. Despite his status as a very bad guy, toppling his regime should never have been a U.S. priority. He was small-time and an easy target. Our military shouldn't have been used for something like this in the first place.

If Severin thinks that was a good use of the soldiers, he's a moron.

31. Here's a bit of it from "The Daily Imus"
The Daily Imus
NEWS QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Imus and Radio talk show host Jay Severin discuss President Bush and his decision to send troops to Iraq.

Imus: "You have to stick with your guy. You can't call for his impeachment."

Jay Severin: "Nope. That's the deal you know, I elect him and his job is to send someone's only son to fight and die when there is a clear and present danger to this country."

Imus: "I happen to agree with you by the way."

Severin: "And I am not prepared to say he was lying when he made that decision. I'm prepared to believe that ..."

Imus: "He knows better now."

Severin: "Pardon me?"

Imus: "He knows better now which is your point."

Severin: "The point is he's known better for a few years and this dunce is sending people's only sons to die while he tries to figure out a way to save face. It's criminal. This is worse. This is beyond Nixon."

I'm not all that surprised. The "Get 'Em! Get 'Em!" crowd is quick to jump on this kind of bandwagon. (Sadly, many of them are really just in it for the violence/punishment -- of anyone.)

Which is why we begged the LieberDems to run the campaign on impeachment. We could have well had bushcheney gone before the election and asked less people to die for a mistake.

When the "we" are those who are not seeking to take partisan political advantage from the commission of torture and war crimes.

Even now, "we" have no problem with a process that allows the GOP to keep control of the WH. As long as the war criminals are held fully accountable.

We just want to defend the Constitution from a criminal regime and get the American People off the hook for the atrocities committed in their names.
