Kim Jong-il is to have his access to iPods and other desirable gadgets cut off as part of US efforts to target sanctions directly at the North Korean leader and his power base.

"If you take away one of the tools of his control, perhaps you weaken the cohesion of his leadership,'' Robert J Einhorn, a former senior state department official who visited North Korea in 1999, told the Associated Press.

"It can't hurt, but whether it works, we don't know.''

...if this doesn't work, I hear Bush is contemplating a cutoff of all "JeLLo"

1. Where does Bush think iPods and "other desirable gadgets"...
come from? They're certainly not made in the U.S. The Chinese flood the market with these "desirable gadgets" and I hope that the U.S. government doesn't actually think they're going to get the Chinese to stem the flow of these toys into the North Korean marketplace.
I guess I should never "misunderestimate" the stupidity of the Bush regime though. That's a fool's bet.

2. Gim Jeong-il is an asshat
He's a self-absorbed, nihilistic, greedy, rat-bastard asshat who seems devoid of any conscience --kind of like the republikkan prince. Maybe scrubbie is on to something.

I mean who would know better how to hurt a sociopath like gim, but another sociopath?

5. ipods first...
then we go for his ps2. forget common sense negotiations, let's threaten his toys. What are we a 12 year old big brother tormenting our little brother. Why don't we just send in a team of rangers or seals to give him a wedgie (but stop short of an atomic wedgie).

8. personally, I think a purple nurple would be more effective
And taking away the ps2 wouldn't mean much. He still could watch movies on his psp. :eyes:

7. Kim Jong-il doesn't seem to mind that his people
are being underfed, does anyone think he gives a rat's ass about his people missing friggin' iPods? I'm sure he'll get to keep his iPod, and I'll bet that's all he cares about.
