Matthews: Dems "don't want to be policymakers -- that's grown-up stuff"
On the November 27 edition of MSNBC's Hardball, host Chris Matthews asserted that Democrats would not hasten the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq by cutting off funding for the war because "they're not policymakers," and because "hey don't want to be policymakers -- that's grown-up stuff." Matthews added that Democrats would "rather sit in the back seat and complain, 'Mommy, when we getting there?' " Matthews has previously mocked Democrats with this automotive reference. As Media Matters for America noted, on the October 24 edition of Hardball, Matthews claimed that Democrats have not offered a specific plan for Iraq and then asked rhetorically: "Do you know what the difference is between a grown-up and a kid?" He then suggested that to be "grown [] up," Democrats would have to "sit in the front seat and drive the car."

3. The Dems are not in office yet and all the pundits know what's going to happen.
This will run it's course then the next right wing sour grapes talking point will come up. It looks like the pundits will still be the "liberal media not" for some time.

16. That's Why Everyone Hates Me!
I've seen no evidence that any but a few Democrats are willing to syick their necks out and lead. Feingold, Conyers, perhaps a few others. Most of them utterly blew off stopping the egregious garbage spewing from White house over the last few years - if they can't even make even the most simple choices correctly out of fear of losing a campaign contribution, I doubt that they can actually lead. But they'll have their chance - and I fervently hope that they prove me wrong!

attacked the dems too many times for it to be a non-thinking comment in my opinion.

24. I heard it too but I also thought I heard him be really rude to the
lady that was on there trying to stand up for the new congress and he & Buchanon would not let her in and she started talking and Matthews would'nt let her talk, basically told her to butt out that this is war like I guess she had nothing relevant to add. Did I hear that right?

17. "Chris Matthews doesn't want to cover REAL news"
He prefers to "ponder, pander and make shit up".. Real news is "grown-up" stuff"..

His idea of real nooz is to salivate like Pavlov's dog every time he sees a picture of Bush in the idiotic flight suit..and Bush in JEANS sends him into "swoon-overload"..

22. WTF!
:wtf:

Bush and his RW thugs have been on a 6 year bender destroying everything in their path and they refuse to accept responsibility for one iota of the messes they've made. Yet somehow its the DEMS who are not grown-up??? This little rant from Matthews is patently absurd.

For crying out loud its not even January yet and he's going to bitch and moan about democrats not cleaning up Bush's mess fast enough. This is nuts. Its going to be a long 2 years.
