Great Interview With Al Gore On The Tonight Show
Edited on Thu Nov-30-06 07:20 AM by RestoreGore
How refreshing to actually see Mr. Gore on an interview that I laughed at and enjoyed. No begging him to run, no ulterior motive... just talking about the DVD, his passion for getting this information out to as many people as possible as quickly as possible, and what WE can do to help that process.

They joked about the GQ interview, (with Mr. Gore saying he was going for the ten sexiest men on C-SPAN, LOL ) the potential Oscar nomination, (where he talked about how this has not gone to his head and how he tried to call there as a VP once to congratulate his friend Tommy Lee Jones, but couldn't get through even though the White House Secretary was put on because they didn't believe him) and how while he missed some aspects of politics regarding policy, there was much about it he definitely did not miss, especially how big money has strangled it.

He is not lying, prevaricating, or setting us all up for the, "SURPRISE I was pulling the wool over your eyes" routine. It was obvious by his demeanor, his tone, and his words. The climate crisis is his campaign as he also reiterated here, and he is totally devoted to it.

They also discussed the global warming case in the USSC, and I loved the remark he made about Scalia who claimed he wasn't a scientist so he couldn't offer opinion or something to that effect, and said he wished he would have felt that way about presidential elections...So true. Hopefully, the USSC will use their judgement this time and see that CO2 is a health hazard when releaed in fosssil fuels and call for its regulation, but of course, we know the lobby out to prevent that is very strong.

They also talked about NSTA and their refusal to accept the AIT DVDs because of their association with Exxon-Mobil. Jay Leno made some funny jokes regarding this and Al becoming some global warming super hero who takes on Exxon ... Actually, that wouldn't be a bad idea for a sequel.;-) In whole, this was an informative, funny, and entertaining interview. And Jay Leno trying to teach Mr. Gore to talk like Arnold Schwarzenegger was priceless.

I hope a ton of these DVDs are sold and people do share them but as Mr. Gore hinted, not to pirate. I have already seen one or two sites where they claim to show the entire movie, which violates copyright law.

Thanks for a great interview, Mr. Leno. Oh, and Mr. Gore, should you make that movie about "hot glacier to glacier action," I'll be first on line to buy it. ;-)

2. Climate training event

The next one is tomorrow through Sunday. THIS is what we should be hearing more about. The people out here committed to spreading this news. This is reality, and where the sea change will begin.

4. It was pretty funny. I also liked the crack about Antonin Scalia.
Apparently Scalia didn't want to get involved in the global warming debate. Gore said (and I paraphrase) "I wish he felt the same about presidential elections."

At any rate, Gore more than kept up with Jay Leno in the yucks department.

I guess I'm an old stick in the mud, I was hoping for a little more substance, but it showed a side of Al's personality that he supressed when he was a politician and that's a good thing.

If he does get back into politics--and I hope he runs for President--I'd like to see him display a bit more of this lighter side. If he can we have a winner.

5. He's already a winner...
But I understand where you are coming from. I sincerely hope he doesn't run for president now, because well, he is free to truly be who he is, and also work on this issue alone which he would not be able to do otherwise... and this planet needs him to do that.

6. I rarely stay up that late, but made an effort last night & am glad I did!
I liked the '10 sexiest men on C-SPAN' comment, followed by "I beat out Tom DeLay." Harr! It was a fantastic interview!

7. I very rarely stay up to watch, but as soon as I heard he was going
go be on, I stayed up. He was great -- he really made me laugh a lot. I wonder if he cut a deal with Jay so Jay wouldn't ask him if he was going to run. I so hope he does -- we really need him where he can actually have some control over what we do about global warming.
