Wal-Mart should fire their ad agency
Given the hot soup that Wal-Mart has gotten into with the Talibangelicals recently (see this thread), I was rolling on the floor laughing when I saw their holiday ad campaign, "Be Bright."

Why is this so funny? "Bright" is an umbrella term that includes atheists, agnostics, non-believers and others who reject a supernaturalistic view of the universe. And it is not all that obsure a useage; the "Bright Movement" started back in the early 90s. So what Wal-Mart is telling its customers is, in effect, "Give up supernaturalism. Give up religion."

Oh, how I hope the Freepers pick up on this. Can you say, "AFA boycott... yet again?"

1. Wal-Mart advocating literacy
That's the last thing the dobson's of the world want, an educated electorate. And a multi-billion dollar corporation shall lead them.

3. you might be right, but it doesn't appear so whenever I shop there

At the WalMart where I shop, most of the employees appear happy, the prices are reasonable, the selection is nowhere near as limited as some critics say, their returns policy is generous, and the overall shopping experience is as good or better than one might expect for the low-price leader.

7. I can't say I've ever heard this term before.
Not that I doubt your claim, of course, and I find this highly amusing. What's next, an ad campaign based on the Church of the Subgenius? :)
