I got a early Christmas present from the IRS.
I wander how they plan on screwing me!

For two years now they have been taking money from my social Security Disabilty check to pay back taxes, this month they didn't. I know I still owe money, I'm just wonding what the catch is here.

P.S. the amount they have been taking is $250.00 a month.

2. That's right...
they will hold you accountalbe for NOT doing so. When I deal with them I do things in an ultra-business-like manner. No nonsense, no fooling around.

Revenue services are formidable - they have given us more leeway but pull the reins much harde initially.

3. I plan to.
I just don't understand how they have been so methodical up to this point.

5. It is the IRS's way of not being perceived as Scrooge on Christmas
....I would suppose. Be grateful and expect that next year it will start all over again. And if the IRS continues to sent youyr full SS amount be grateful again each time.

6. They're "loaning" you some money for Christmas...
You're expected to give that money to one of the retail giants, preferably a Repub contributor. Eventually, they'll ask for repayment. With interest. Might take a couple years.

Merry Christmas.

7. Years ago, after filing our taxes, we received a rather healthy
check from the IRS explaining that there had been an error on our part. Since we had our taxes done by a professional, we had him check it and although he wasn't able to reconcile the mistake, he told us that he had spoken to the IRS and that they were positive about the mistake and that we were free to cash the check. Which we did. Back then, times were a little tough, and the check was a windfall.

Well, guess what? About five years later, we received a letter from the IRS stating that we weren't, after all, entitled to the money that they had sent us, and that we now owed it back to them with considerable interest. BUT, if we would like to contest, we could. We wrote a letter explaining the specifics of what had occurred five years previously. For our efforts, we got audited and fined, and they made withdrawels out of my husband's paychecks.

OK...we paid back the money, another year passes, and guess what? One day we receive a letter stating that they may have been WRONG and that if we want to dispute the whole thing, they will set up an inquiry to look into it. My husband immediately called them and told them, "NOT JUST NO, BUT HELL NO!! Keep it, do not return it, and do not try to give it back under any circumstances!!"

We learned our lesson!! Stay as far clear of these people as humanly possibly!!!

(don't remember exactly, it was long ago) who committed suicide because he couldn't get off their computer, and it just wrecked his life. It made us shudder to think how close we had come!
