Ed Schultz to move head-to-head with Limbaugh, Franken
Move over, Rush Limbaugh.

Ed Schultz, the nation’s largest progressive talk radio host, is moving head-to-head with Rush Limbaugh’s show sometime in December, industry insiders familiar with the deal tell RAW STORY. The move – which puts Schultz in the choice noon to 3 p.m. window – will also bring him face-to-face with Air America’s flagship talker, Al Franken.

Two radio insiders, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the move. Both characterized the decision to move The Ed Schultz Show from drive-time to early afternoon as one intended to bolster a rapidly growing national audience.

The decision to move Schultz to noontime eastern could put another nail in the coffin of Air America, which filed for bankruptcy Oct. 13.

1. They should move Franken to drive time, IMO
And Air America should play top country hits interdispersed with NASCAR chat during the Limbaugh hour, to pull away some of his demographic.

4. Yeah, how dare a liberal viewpoint be spread
amongst people who aren't liberal stereotypes. We must preach to the choir if we are to win!

5. If you get them tuned in to your station, they just might stay and listen. And if you
cut into the opposition numbers, that reduces his clout, influence, and earning power. It's basic marketing.

7. And what exactly is wrong with Ed?
He "sounds different"? Or is it that he's just not as far left as screaming idiots like Rhodes and Malloy?

9. Are you totally dull of comprehension? Are you unable to read basic English?
Go back and READ my posts. READ THEM. Each and every fucking WORD. No where did I criticize Ed. This is what I suggested (read each sentence SLOWLY now, for COMPREHENSION):

1. Ed is up against Limbaugh now, and also up against FRANKEN.

2. Franken should be MOVED so he DOES NOT COMPETE with Ed. This puts a liberal talker (ED) and a conservative asswipe (RUSH) head-to-head.

3. AAR should play country music and NASCAR chat to pull conservative listeners away from Limbaugh during that time slot. If they leave their dials tuned to AAR, they can listen to Franken later.

GET IT??? Jesus, I get tired of people who can't fucking read and then jump all over me because THEY have a comprehension problem....and you are in that number, friend.

2. Schultz had a good niche. Think he will lose the drivers who might have
gotten hooked on him while dial surfing. I hope they know what they are doing.

3. sounds like Schultz is antipating Al's run for the senate. Hartmann
replacing Al will be a better move for a lot of listeners.

Ed's not for me, but I wish him well in his show. Any left-leaning is a good thing against the RW noise machine.

13. That's what I heard, and that's probably why Ed is moving.
Ought to be interesting.

8. This is great news for Randi Rhodes
She'll finally be played live on many affiliates, since Ed currently competes with her time slot.

11. Great news for Randi Rhodes...

Not for KQKE 960 The Quake in the Bay Area; Big Ed will continue to occupy the same time slot as a tape delay.

In addition, it is unknown whether or not Randi Rhodes (and Rachel Maddow) will even be available from January onwards.

I get the sense that Clear Channel is considering dumping Air America Radio in San Francisco.

12. It may not affect a whole lot of affiliates yet
Jones will refeed the show on delay in its current slot (3-6), immediately following his new time slot (12-3). Therefore, it will still be convenient for the smaller stations to air him in his current slot.

I get the feeling this move won't work, since that time period is so fierce, and Thom Hartmann (also in that slot) will not be affected if AAR goes under, as he owns his show and can take it elsewhere or self-syndicate.

14. I heard Ed talking about this today.
He, of course, opened by lying, insisting that he had no intention of bashing AAR. He then went on to bash AAR. He's sure a silly duck.
