Why do so many psychos seem to have sex and violence linked in their minds?

I'm referring to murderers who rape and/or sexually torture their victims.

2. Both are primal urges. Psychotics lack the natural controls "normal" people have.
It's more complicated than that, but it's a good short answer.

3. According to a recent article, they also think the Monkey is a great prez....
But to answer your question, I don't know. Maybe it's the "forbidden" aspect of it all. Our culture strongly disapproves of that sort of behavior.

If eating more than two thousand calories a day were as "forbidden" as rape is in our culture, there'd probably be more than a few Cartman-sized psychos running around.

5. Not only psychos.
The phrases fuck you, blow me etc. are used in violent ways by all kinds of Americans you wouldn't call psycho. It's part of our culture for better or worse.

8. I was going to say
It's part of human nature - it just finds most obvious expression in a few - but i think most males in particular have an element of that.

9. Good point, I hadn't thought of that.

And other cultures, too, have sexual phrases such as those to throw at people when you're pissed off.

Wonder why we say to somebody we can't stand, Fuck you, or blow me, when in reality, that's the LAST thing we'd want to happen with that particular person.

But that's a subject for another thread, I guess.

11. Homophobes, too.
Sooner or later, the "forcing down the throat" metaphor always slips into their arguments.

It's actually extremely rare in the states, though the media wants everyone to think otherwise.

12. A similar question...
How come there are so many of these types of psychopaths which figure in the plot lines of so much network television shows? You would think that these types of people are thick as flies in our society. If they are thats a scary thought. Maybe its the same fascination that Americans seem to have with gore films which never seem to go out of style and are getting more and more realistic.

13. Completely Misguided Premise.
The fact is that the overwhelming number of violent murderers commit no sexual crime, so to make it appear as though they do is a bit misleading. In my opinion there is no real connection there.

HOWEVER, when dealing with rape, which is inherently violent, the connection is obviously then far more apparent. The reason there being that rape itself is violent, so the capacity for murder thereafter is not a far jump. The murder is also the quickest way to dispose of their violent crime.

So the question to me is really why do so many rapists link that act with violence? My answer is that the act itself was violence to begin with, not sex.
