Ooohhh, my bad, I forgot...the couple is African American and not white.

The alleged hired killer (driven to the house by the husband) broke into the house, confronted the wife, but then warned her about the alleged hiring instead of carrying it out. Meanwhile, hubby was on his way to the airport w/ their 3 yr old son to go visit out of state relatives. The "contract"--$2,000 in exchange for the killing.

An Allen man accused of hiring a man to kill his pregnant wife should soon be headed back to Texas to face charges, following an extradition hearing in New Mexico this morning.

Mr. Sterling, 38, was arrested last Wednesday in New Mexico on two counts of criminal solicitation of capital murder - one for his 8-months pregnant wife and another for the unborn child. Police said he arranged to have his wife killed while he was away visiting family for the holidays.

Police say the man hired to kill Ms. Sterling had a change of heart and warned her instead. She was unharmed.

Roxane Sterling didn't know the man standing in her Allen bedroom.

But he had been hired, he said, to kill her.

"Your husband wants you murdered," he told the eight-months pregnant woman. Then he told her to call police.

Sterling took an afternoon flight last Tuesday to visit family in Alamogordo, N.M., police said. The same afternoon, his wife arrived to their $405,000 brick home on Padre Circle to find the stranger in the couple's master bedroom.

2. Well, no, that isn't the reason. The reason is...there's NO BODY!!!
If it bleeds, it leads.

What's to report, really? Where are the dramatic pictures? The smears of blood, the forensic teams going in and out, the detectives shaking their heads dramatically. What do they have, save some footage of the crummy husband in a jumpsuit, a few shots of the wife, some cuts of friends and neighbors saying "Who'd a THUNK it?" and that's that?

The guy is in jail, awaiting trial. He didn't dump his pregnant wife in San Francisco Bay, or have anyone else do it, either.

This will probably end up as a segment of a DARK HEART, IRON HAND documentary on MSNBC late night. But first, they need the TRIAL, so there are pictures to fill out the story.

It's actually a rather heartwarming Christmas tale, in a perverse fashion. The old "contract killer with a heart of gold" theme!
