"A collective “I told you so” will ripple through the world of Bush-bashers once news of Christopher Lohse’s study gets out.

Lohse, a social work master’s student at Southern Connecticut State University, says he has proven what many progressives have probably suspected for years: a direct link between mental illness and support for President Bush.

Lohse says his study is no joke. The thesis draws on a survey of 69 psychiatric outpatients in three Connecticut locations during the 2004 presidential election. Lohse’s study, backed by SCSU Psychology professor Jaak Rakfeldt and statistician Misty Ginacola, found a correlation between the severity of a person’s psychosis and their preferences for president: The more psychotic the voter, the more likely they were to vote for Bush."

Is anyone really surprised?

1. Unfortunately, that is not a large enough sampling to be meaningful.

from growing up in one of those hell holes, but it won't stand up to scrutiny, and besides it is just someone who is working on their masters. I would prefer a team type study that comes up with irrefutable results that is actionable. If you know what i mean.

3. Do you remember the "Kerry voters seek counseling" stories after 2004
...and callers into talk-radio programs declaring they're sick and tired of Dem "whiners" complaining about election fraud after 2000 and 2004? I do...

I wonder how much of this story will be carried by the Corporate Media?

4. Good data would help quash the "mental illness screen" plan
The Bushco scam to screen the population (starting with kids, it seems) and drugging them all into submission might sink like a stone if it could be shown incontrovertibly that RWingers are nuts.
